Download ComboFix from one of these locations:
Link 1 (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
Link 2 (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
Link 3 (http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe)
* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop
Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools
See this Link (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html) for programs that need to be disabled and instruction on how to disable them.
Remember to re-enable them when we're done.
Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c30/ken545/RcAuto1.gif
Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c30/ken545/whatnext.jpg
Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply along with a New Hijackthis log.
*If there is no internet connection when Combofix has completely finished then restart your computer to restore back the connections.
It's really scary having my AV down, but I know it's a necessary evil.

You have a bunch of files that may be bad, lets check a few before we delete them
You need to enable windows to show all files and folders, instructions Here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html)
Go to VirusTotal (http://www.virustotal.com/) and submit these files for analysis, just use the BROWSE feature and then Send File , you will get a report back, post the report into this thread for me to see.
c:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\ufokuwyba.exe
c:\documents and settings\owner\Application Data\alehodeqy.sys
c:\windows\jugitezo.dll
OK, here are the results. I did a Copy & Paste of the files from your reply, but I did enable Windows to show all files & folders; hope that doesn't mess things up.
Can I re-enable my AV yet?
Thanks again, I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate this help.

I guess there ok then.
How are things running now???
Everything seems to be fine, I think.
I don't want to get my hopes too high, you know?!
I did see that a lot of those files had extremely strange names and definitely raised a red flag.
But, if everything came back negative, I guess they're probably not harmful?
Who knows.
A couple of Q's for you:
I thought Java might be the culprit as I had a few updates that needed removal but I also have Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03 along with the latest release (Update 11).
Is the SE v1.4.2_03 necessary?
Secondly, is it OK to re-enable my AV?
Sorry, I'm a little nervous about being naked, so to speak.
Lets do this
You need to enable windows to Show All Files and Folders
Instructions for your Operating System Here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html)
Start deleting these files maybe 5 at time, leave them in the Recycle Bin, reboot and if windows does not squawk about them then do 5 more until there all gone.

Your Java is out of date and leaving your system vulnerable.
Go to your Add-Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall any previous versions of Java (J2SE Runtime Environment)
It should have an icon next to it:
http://users.telenet.be/bluepatchy/miekiemoes/images/javaicon.jpg
Select it and click Remove.
Reboot your system.
Then go to the Sun Microsystems (http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp) and install the update
Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 11 <--This is what you need to download and install.
If you chose the online installation, it will prompt you to run the program.
If you chose the offline installation, you will be prompted to save the file and you can run it from wherever you saved it.
Then after install you can verify your installation here Sun Java Verify (http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp)
I like to to do the offline installation and save the setup file in case I may need it in the future
Keep me posted please
Mission accomplished and no worse for wear; PC doesn't seem to miss them at all.
I deleted all of the old Java files except the most current & up to date Java (TM) 6 Update 11 which is what I just downloaded a couple of days ago.
I believe this is the same version you are referring to.
If I'm thinking I'm actually smarter than I am, knock me down a peg and I'll delete this and take your advise on the offline installation method.
Looks as if you have logged off for some of your own well deserved relaxation time.
Thank you so much for getting me this far; I will check back tomorrow evening around the same time to continue.
Hopefully we are in the final stages - all seems to be pretty good at this point.
Again, I'm extremely grateful. You've made this painful process as simple as it could be.
Good Morning Dave,
Just post one last HJT log and lets make sure nothing has returned.

Looking good :bigthumb: I hated making you remove all those files manually , we have programs that would remove them in a heartbeat but I just wanted to make sure that you had no problems with any we removed. Keep them in your Recycle Bin for a week or so and if no issues than empty your Recycle bin.
I am real happy everything is working well for you, as far as making things easy for you to follow, you are the second half of the team and followed instructions very well :bigthumb:
ATF Cleaner <-- Yours to keep, run it now and then to clean out the clutter.
Malwarebytes <-- Yours to keep also, check for updates and run a scan now and then.
Hijackthis <---Your call, hopefully you won't need it again, if you do you can redownload it
Combofix <---Is not a general cleaning tool, just run it with supervision or you can bork your system
Click START then RUN
Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.
http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z176/EPL47/CF_Cleanup.png
When shown the disclaimer, Select "2"
The above procedure will:
Delete the following:
ComboFix and its associated files and folders.
VundoFix backups, if present
The C:\Deckard folder, if present
The C:_OtMoveIt folder, if present
Reset the clock settings.
Hide file extensions, if required.
Hide System/Hidden files, if required.
Reset System Restore.
How did I get infected in the first place ? <--- Read these links and find out how to prevent getting infected again.

Dslreports (http://www.dslreports.com/faq/10002)
Keep in mind if you install some of these programs. Only ONE Anti Virus and only ONE Firewall is recommended, more is overkill and can cause you problems. You can install all the Spyware programs I have listed without any problems. If you install Spyware Blaster, you can still install Spybot Search and Destroy but do not enable the TeaTimer in Spybot.
Here are some free programs to install, all free and highly regarded by the fine people in the Malware Removal Community
Spybot Search and Destroy 1.6 (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/)
Check for Updates/ Immunize and run a Full System Scan on a regular basis. If you install Spyware Blaster ( Recommended ) then do not enable the TeaTimer in Spybot Search and Destroy.
Spyware Blaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html) It will prevent most spyware from ever being installed. No scan to run, just update about once a week and enable all protection.
Spyware Guard (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard.html) It offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts, again, no scan to run, just install it and let it do its thing.
IE-Spyad (http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,23332-order,1-page,1-c,antispywaretools/description.html)
IE-Spyad places over 6000 web sites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
Firefox 3 (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/) It has more features and is a lot more secure than IE. It is a very easy and painless download and install, it will no way interfere with IE, you can use them both.
Safe Surfn
Ken
SUCCESS & RELIEF!
Ken, once again I express my most sincere gratitude for your help. It is not often in life that you run into people who are as selfless and willing to give of their time.
I have to say, I wish I had never met you (obviously), but I come out of this experience with knowledge and an appreciation for what Safer Networking embodies. I feel extremely fortunate to have been under your guidance since I am no tech savvy at all, and your instructions were as clear as the sea in St. Thomas.
May everyone who runs into the misfortune of this incredibly tough virus quickly find Safer Networking and specifically, ken545 :crowned: to help navigate these rough waters.
A final thanks to you and warm wishes for a most joyous & festive holiday season.
Thank You Dave
Time for a :beerbeerb:
Take Care,
Ken
Hi Ken :(
We have to stop meeting this way.
I never discounted having to come back, but I certainly didn't expect it to be so soon.
I'm not sure how, but I think it has returned...
I ran MBAM and there were infections found.
I successfully removed them and the new logfile (attached below) came back clean after a reboot in normal mode.
I also ran a new HijackThis log and there were a couple of files that looked suspicious.
I wanted to have virustotal analyze them, but I could not find "C:\WINDOWS\Services.exe" and there are two of them in the log.
The one file I was able to analyze - "tfswctrl.exe" - returned a result which doesn't surprise me.
I hope we don't have to revisit the entire process, but I will do whatever you say.
Here are the MBAM, HijackThis & Virustotal logs and I've bolded a couple of entries:

Please download the OTMoveIt3 (http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/OTMoveIt3.exe) by OldTimer.
Save it to your desktop.
Please double-click OTMoveIt3.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.
Please run this free online virus scanner from ESET (http://www.eset.eu/online-scanner)
Note: You will need to use Internet explorer for this scan
Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
Click Start
When asked, allow the activex control to install
Click Start
Make sure that the option Remove found threats is ticked, and the option Scan unwanted applications is checked

Use notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt
Copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic
I need to see..
1. OTMoveIt log
2. ESET log
3. New HJT log
Ken :)
Thanks again for helping me out, I'm extremely grateful.
On the printer tfswctrl.exe, is it common to have a hit from Virustotal?
I'm a little paranoid at this time, and any little thing that comes back positive causes me great alarm.
OK, I was able to successfully remove the files in HJT and OTMoveit but I cannot run the ESET online scan.
I can connect to the site and Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use, but when I click Start, I get a 404 error as if the page is not there.
I tried several times without success.
Here are the results of the new scans for HJT & OTMoveit in the meantime.

Bleeping Computer is my bible :)
The URL has changed
Please run this free online virus scanner from ESET (http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/)
Note: You will need to use Internet explorer for this scan
Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
Click Start
When asked, allow the activex control to install
Click Start
Make sure that the option Remove found threats is ticked, and the option Scan unwanted applications is checked
Click Scan
Wait for the scan to finish
Use notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt
Copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic
Log looks good, you can try this other scanner if you still cant get ESET to work
Run this free online scan using Internet Explorer:
Kaspersky Online Virus Scanner (http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner)
Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Online Scanner
You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
Now click on Scan Settings
In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
Standard
Scan Options:
Scan Archives
Scan Mail Bases
Click OK
Now under select a target to scan: Select My Computer
This will program will start and scan your system.
The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
Now click on the Save as Text button:
Save the file to your desktop.
Post the log along with a New HJT Log into your next reply.
Ken-
Just wanted to touch base with you.
I ran the ESET test overnight but when I came to check it, the browser had closed out so I have to run it again.
I'll post the results once the scan has completed.
Thanks again for helping and for the new link! :bigthumb:
Ken-
I finally completed the scan but there was no text file/log generated only:
ESET Online Scanner
Scan Results: No threats found
I suppose if there were any issues they were cleaned in the first go around so no complaints here. :bigthumb:
I'm still a little nervous and everytime a script runs I have to check my Task Manager to see what it is.
Not that I typically know!
I'll get over it.
I want to thank you yet again for your instruction and assistance.
There's no way I'd have been able to do this on my own and I'm so happy that there are folks like you out there to help us technically challenged types.
Signing off for the final time (hopefully), unless there's something else you can suggest.
Happy holidays to you and yours; you're the best. :crowned:
Dave
Your welcome Dave.
After getting hit like you did with malware, I guess it would make you a bit paranoid, just use your head when surfing the internet and be careful what you download.
I will leave this thread open for you for a few days, post back with a new HJT log then and lets make sure nothing has returned.
Ken:p:
Nervous Ned checking in!
Here's a new HJT log for your perusal (crosses fingers):

Go and enjoy the holidays :santa:
Ken:)
Many, MANY thanks once again.
I know I've said it ad nauseum, but I am extremely grateful to you for taking the time and helping me out.
May the current holiday season bring much joy to you and yours.
Yours,
Dave
Same to you Dave,
Take care,
Ken:)
