Was there removal of detection patterns? (it's manually highlighted red in the graph)
It's right there in the news article below the graph:
The graphs first steep increase can be explained with the addition of detections that needed the new capabilities of the 1.6 engine, and should you wonder about the following valley, that was a point where the new capabilities were used to reduce the amount of patterns needed, without actually reducing the detection range.
Although there was a sudden increase in the detection rate, why does the update change log (the thing that appears on the homepage of spybot) does not look proportionate to the addition of detection?
Are all the added detections displayed in the "change log"?
It does not? The change log does not often mention the amount of changes in each product, just the products themselves. And if you see the various updated Virtumonde releases, it should be clear that they're bigger than a simple rogue that's rarely changing.
