Hello to you all, i'm new here and new to spy bot.
I would like a little help please on removing ZLOB downloader, and something called schmit ? I did have a virus free PC until i installed KASPERSKY antivirus, since installing it i've had nothing but trouble. i've now uninstalled it and now running AVG free, with ZONE ALARM firewall, plus spybot.
I even had a fake GOOGLE page coming up, sending me to what looked like gambling sites, and porn. thanks for any info forthcoming.

Hello dic penderyn,
Which version of Spybot-S&D are you running, open Spybot Search & Destroy > Help > About. There you will find version and date of last definitions.
Thank you. :)

Is Spybot detecting Zlob? Run a scan in Safe Mode with the latest definitions and remove what Spybot finds (Zlob). You're saying that after installing the Kaspersky AV Online Scanner, your troubles began?
Can you explain what happened (troubles)?
Hi dic penderyn,
Could you run a Spybot-S&D scan in safe mode when there is access only to basic files and drivers. When the machine is operating in normal mode all processes are running.
Scanning with Spybot-S&D in safe mode allows the program to try and remove items that keep reappearing after a scan, despite having been 'fixed'.
Reboot your computer into SafeMode by doing the following:
* Restart your computer
* After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, begin tapping F8.
* Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear.
* Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Open Spybot-S&D while still in safe mode.
* Close all browsers, check for problems and fix everything found in red
* Repeat until no more items are found in red
* Close Spybot-S&D
* Reboot back into Windows

OK, thanks every one. I did a scan in safe mode, i think it may have done the trick.
Excuse my ignorance here, when watching the scan bar at the bottom of the page while scanning, it seemed to be stalling on "scmit, zlob, and something called virtmonde ? it completed the scan ok and i removed the offending problem.
When i reran the scan it still stalled on the same virus names. If they were removed in a previous scan, shouldn't it have just run smoothly, with perhaps the virus names deleted ?
Thanks for your patience. :euro:

Stalling on some entries does not possibly mean that that malware is on your machine. There are so many variables to list when diagnosing the stalling problem in your machine. It could be the temp. files in your system, the number of files on your computer, how much RAM is present, etc. It could also be possible that it is stalling because of the malware infection.
Is Spybot still detecting anything (you've said that Spybot successfully removed the infection)? How about a scan with your AVG anti-virus program>

Well Drrag, there doesn't seem to be anything at the moment, i also scanned with AVG and that came up ok too. PC now seems to be running ok, nice and smooth.
Bit more advice if that's ok ?... When is it safe to download active x ?
I looked on the adobe site for a reader, but it kept telling me to click on "the golden task bar to install active x.
Reading these forums make you nervous about downloading and installing anything.
I hope the morons who create these virus attacks rot in hell.:devil:

:funny: I hope it's smoother than before.
Active X would be more like a way for some component to run without actually being installed on your computer. So it's like it's something that can scan your machine, or do something as necessary.
shelflife's link can probably explain it better than I do:
