Hello, I have a malicious adware 'virus' that I can't remove from my computer. I have scanned my computer with two different virus programs and both of them have found "hint of the day, no adware" but they both say that it can't be removed from my computer unless I restart. When I restart, it scans my computer again and then again it will say the same, that it can't be removed and I should restart.

Whenever I do a google search and click on a link, it goes to another site. I don't know what to do to get rid of this adware.

I used Spybot and Super Antispyware for scanning my computer. Any suggestions??? Thanks!

Jennifer

Hello and Welcome to Safer Networking,

My name is peku006and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.
I will be giving you a series of instructions that need to be followed in the order in which I give them to you.

Please observe these rules while we work:

If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
Please continue to respond until I give you the "All Clear"

If you follow these instructions, everything should go smoothly.

I am sorry that we were unable to reply to your post sooner. The forums have been very busy.

If you are still in need of assistance, please do the following

Click here (http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/HJTInstall.exe) to download HJTInstall.exe
Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
Click on Install.
It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT use the AnalyseThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Thanks peku006
