The sdhelper had to be put in because it wasn't there. In Spybot, I was unable to place a check in the box for the "bad downloads".

Sorry that I didn't respond quicker, but I was waiting for an e-mail from you, that the HJT had been reviewed.

In regards to the results, what are the hpwis entries to do with? Are they related to a specific site? I do a lot of surveys and points-to-win sites. I stay away from any that try to install their spyware on my system.

Also, is the last entry (O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE) related to my monitor, or is it a site that monitors me?

Oops, forgot to thank you for your worthwhile effort. It is appreciated.
Another feather in this site's hat.

AlcxMonitor X Alcxmntr.exe Realtek AC97 Audio - Event Monitor. "Slyware" file used surreptitiously monitor one's actions. It is not a sinister one, like remote control programs, but it is being used by Realtek to gather data about customers

http://us9.hpwis.com/ is overture, its an optional/recommended fix

Think Prevention:
Put in place a good hosts file
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
How To Download and Extract the HOSTS file:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts2.htm
Replace it about once monthly to keep it updated

Thanks for your time and effort.

I don't know what you mean by 'overture'. I clicked it, within this posting, and wound up at a hp site. I have an hp, so should I remove it, or not? I get quite a few e-mails from them and do click around checking out their produts, etc.. So, would it do me much good to remove them?

I can't use the host files, as they block my getting into various ads in the "My Points" site. (I earn cash and prizes and buy some meds and home products thru them. Every time an ad is clicked you earn points towards cash and prizes. And if you buy anything, it also adds to your points.) There are just too many host files (I think someone mentioned 10,000 entries in the host file), and it would take too much time to adjust ones that I need for my different surveys and point sites.
