2 host file questions

Two questions about Spybot's hosts file...

1) is the hosts file created exclusively by Spybot or is it from another source, like MVPS?

2) does Spybot remove dead links from its hosts file?

We add everything ourselves based just on our analysis, no current external sources.

And yes, we remove domains that have been inactive for a while since a few months ago. We've got scripts that check and compare contents and automatically get changed domain stati for review. See:

The question comes to mind, how then are the dead links that are already in my hosts file removed? Spybot doesn't remove them, does it? Can a user flush out the dead links by periodically running the Undo feature, then re-immunizing?

They have a special "undo" flag in the database in updates, and Spybot would remove them the next time you take any immunization action (check, immunize or undo). Thus, no need to undo, just keeping the immunization up-to-date should suffice.
