I am trying to clean up a laptop and am having problems installing software including spybot and hijackthis. Tried to restart in safemode to install but when I click administrator account it locks up. Browser is redirecting to bad sites and won't open trusted sites (such as yours). I'm sorry do be such a newb about this but I haven't encountered the problems I am having now. If theres any help I could get to install SB and HJT i would be gratefull.

I did get adaware running by putting it on a cd and installing it that way but i transfered the files for SB and AVG that way as well and neither one worked. Adaware removed a TON of spyware (antivirus 360 being the most prevalent) but browser is still being hijacked and system restore will not run.

any ideas?
