i still have the virus alert! on my system tray bar. i got this hijack last week, and i folllow the smitfraudfix and got rid of it. and it worked fine for a whole week, but just today when i was checking email. it comes back from nowhere. i use that same methor and got rid of it. my internet browser back to www.msn.com. everything seems normal, smitfraudfix didnt find anything, but the icon is still remain flashing. i havve done every ways i could think of. still, that damn icon is still flashing. plz help. thank you!:(

smitfraudfix, Norton antivirus, ewido, rouguescanfix, smitrem, NOD32, spybot search and destroy, and yahoo anti-spy. they all said clean. but the icon is still remain. plz help me!

The SmitfraudFix tool has been updated today for newer variants
Please delete your current SmitraudFix folder (it's an old version) and download the newer version. Run that and then post back here with the rapport.txt file
Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop (Win2k/WinXP only!).

Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.
Reboot into Safe Mode

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?" answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter.
The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace wininet.dll. Answer Yes to the question "Replace infected file ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.
A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process, if you computer does not restart automatically please do it yourself manually.
yea no wonder. it works last week. i just delete it, then re-download it, and it removed the icon too. thanks
