I had just contracted the Vundo trojan (even Virtumonde and Smitfraud) and some Antivirus 2008 pop up that kept coming back, it somehow disabled Spybot and Anti-Malware. And each time I connected to the internet I got over welmed with pop ups and Anti-Virus crap.

I went through the pop ups and searched google as quick as possible and read to install Spyhunter and after I ran it, Spyhunter informed me that I had some Root kit installed which prevented my programs to run, spy hunter was able to remove this root kit so I could once again run Spybot and Anti-malware.

Of course I had to pay for it to do this but I am posting this to find out if there was an alternative way to remove this "rootkit" so that I can get Spybot to run. I'm somehow still contracting this virus, I run Combofix and it gets rid of everything but somehow it comes back, just earlier today matter of fact.

I use firefox but it doesn't seem to help prevent my computer from getting all of these diseases. I turned on the immunize feature today, so i'm hoping this helps.
