Hello,

Ive been working for the past couple of days trying to get rid of malware on my computer. On 12/26/08 I got a wscntfy.exe problem and deleted it via search and recycle bin, however it came back yesterday (12/28/08).

I had been getting Automatic Update notification which said my Auto Updates were disabled, even though they weren't. I have also been getting pop ups.

I have used SpyBot several times and to no avail. I have Norton 360 and that appears to have been disabled and non-functioning. I have also just recently installed HijackThis and saved the log.

Hi and welcome


While TeaTimer is an excellent tool for the prevention of spyware, it can sometimes prevent HijackThis from fixing certain things.
Please disable TeaTimer for now until you are clean. TeaTimer can be re-activated once your HijackThis log is clean.

Download ResetTeaTimer.bat http://downloads.subratam.org/ResetTeaTimer.bat
by right-clicking on the link, and choosing Save As. Save it to your desktop, or
somewhere you can find it easily.
Double click ResetTeaTimer.bat to remove all entries set by TeaTimer.

# Open Spybot Search & Destroy.
# In the Mode menu click "Advanced mode" if not already selected.
# Choose "Yes" at the Warning prompt.
# Expand the "Tools" menu.
# Click "Resident".
# Uncheck the "Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of overall system settings)

# In the File menu click "Exit" to exit Spybot Search & Destroy.

Next, launch Notepad, (Start > Run, type in: notepad) copy and paste the blue text below in it: (don't forget to copy and paste REGEDIT4)

Double-click on it and when it asks you if you want to merge the contents to the registry, click "Yes" or "OK". You should receive a message that it was successful. You may delete the file afterwards.
