Hello, I have recently been infected by many mal/ad/spyware/trojans. I have ran Avast!, Spybot, and MalwareBytes-AntiMalware to try to get rid of it all yet it still does not go away. I have disabled TeaTimer as well.

I would like to thank you in advance for your assistance.

Here's my HJT Log

hi,

Your log is several days old. If you still need help: we will get a download to use. There is a guide to read first. Please read all the way through the guide first before proceeding with combofix. It will explain what you need to know and do.

the guide:

Hi, thanks for replying. I've read the guide. Do you want me to download it, run the scan, and post the combofix log?

hi,

yes. Do that.

hi shelf life,

unfortunately, when I ran combofix, everything was fine until combofix rebooted my computer. It was then when I got a blue screen saying that Windows has shut down from a "serious error"

"Invalid Kernal Handel"

I hope this isn't the infamous blue screen of death.

I had to reboot the computer manually after receiving the blue screen by holding down the power button. When the computer turned back on, combofix said it was trying to create a log....but I waited for a very long time, deciding to exit out of the program instead and inform you of this. It should not take that long to produce a text file.

Should I try running combofix again?

I noticed that combofix did delete a file and an entire folder, but I'm still positive that there is still malware hiding within my computer. Also, I would like to note that whenever I restart my computer, it says

"Error loading C:/WINDOWS/Sbinagifi.dll

The specified module could not be found."

This appeared before I ever u

This is a continuation from my previous reply, sorry.

I got that message before I ever ran combofix. I'm guessing it's still from the malware inside of my computer.

Ok, well out of sheer stubborness I ran combofix again, and it came out clean. It didn't reboot the computer either. Here's the log, I don't have the first combofix scan log unfortunately

hi,

ok thanks for all the info. we will use a reg file next, but first we will back up the registry;

start>run and type in regedit, click ok or enter. Windows registry editor opens:

at the top on the left hand side click the my computer icon
then File>export
Name it regbackup or something and
leave the "Save As Type" as Registration Files (*.reg)
then click save, you can save it to your desktop.
close the registry editor window. The backup should be on your desktop.

Copy the entire contents inside the code box and Paste it into Notepad ( this will only work with Notepad ) name the file Regfix.reg and in the drop down box, save it as All Files. Save it to your desktop. doubleclick the saved file on your desktop and chose yes to merge it into the registry.

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\tuvVmKcy]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\windows]
"AppInit_DLLs"=-
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"Jjovebuteb"="-

next:
start HJT, click the "Scan" button. check the items below, close any open windows, then click "Fixed checked"

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Jjovebuteb] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\Sbinagifi.dll",e

O20 - Winlogon Notify: tuvVmKcy - tuvVmKcy.dll (file missing)

check Malwarebytes for updates and do full scan with it.
reboot your computer unless malwarebytes prompts you for a reboot.

post the malwarebytes log and a new hjt log please.

Hi shelf life,

I did as you have asked but whenever I click on yes for it to merge with the registry it says, "Cannot import C:/Documents and Settings/Owner/Desktop/regfix.reg : The specified file is not a registry script. You can only import binary registry files from within the registry editor."

I noticed that in the code the first entry had a - in front of it, while the others did not. Was this a typo or intentional? I think this might be the reason it will not merge.

hi,

no its intentional, my mistake delete the first one and redo with this one:

Its looking good so far. Another thing happens when I start the computer as well. Whenever it boots up, Prevx CSI pops up and says that I have an infection. It says these files are infected : C:/WINDOWS/system32/k9261108 and another copy of the same file. It used to be that only one of them was infected but now another one showed up?

hi,

start HJT, click the "Scan" button. check the items below, close any open windows, then click "Fixed checked"

O20 - AppInit_DLLs: jwbcaq.dll

-----------------------
CSI dosnt remove or quarantine the file: C:/WINDOWS/system32/k9261108?

if you look in the system 32 dir, do you see the k9261108
if so you can go to the website below, browse for the file again and upload it to the web site using the send button.

Hi shelf life,

I looked in the directory as you asked but there was no file called k9261108 in the system32. Maybe another malware is at work? Or it is just a faulty program? Prevx does not remove infected files, it only scans for them. To get Prevx to remove them you must buy it. I'm cheap :crowned:

I believe I did not find it because Avast! had already quarantined the file in the middle of the MBAM scan. So, all must be well now. Is there anything else you would like to look at?

shelf life
2009-01-09, 04:52
you can do this below then take another look in the system 32 dir. and see if you can spot it;

FOr XP: on the desktop double click my computer,go to tools>folder options>view> then select "show hidden files and folders", then UNcheck "hide protected operating system files " also UNcheck "hide extensions for known file types" click apply to all folders, apply then ok

if AVAST has quarantined it then I wouldnt be to worried about it. That means its doing its job. If anti this or that is finding files on your computer on a regular basis, then its time to be concerned.

2009-01-09, 05:08
No, I couldn't find it still. I believe its gone because another check with Prevx says I'm clean :bigthumb: I did a spybot scan and it says I'm clean too. No, for some reason, Avast! did not find that file at first with a scan for some reason, maybe it just needed an update.

Thanks alot for your help. I'm sure we're almost done now. The only problem is that maybe 5 minutes after windows boots up a sound randomly pops up. It's sort of the "windows denying a request" sound. It doesn't really matter though I guess. Thanks to you, I'm gonna apply for Malware University with my new clean computer. Hope to join the forums with you in the neverending fight for a clean computer.

hi,

your welcome. The sound your hearing, could it be software or something starting? Maybe a wireless card getting a connection.
you might try bringing up task manager right after boot up:
hit ctrl-alt-delete keys at same time, look under the process tab. see whats running on the system. Then look again after the "sound'

this:
Viewpoint Manager, is foistware, not malware. Came as a add-on with some other software. You can read about it here. Up to you to decide if you keep it.

Hi shelf life,

I removed it just in case it was messing with the computer. I couldn't find anything on the "sound" that I was hearing, and I have my wireless card turned off so it isn't that either. I'm sure its nothing, I will keep on searching for it though.

Everything seems fine with my computer now, it's all good. :bigthumb:

Anything else you need to look at?

you can remove combofix like this:
start>run and type in:
combofix /u
click ok or enter
Note: there is a space after the x and before the /

Check malwarebytes for updates before doing a scan. The paid version offers auto updating and real time protection.

you can check your java version and do a system restore;

Java:
Vulnerabilities in versions of Sun Java may be responsible for some malware installs via your browser.

It is important to keep Sun Java up to date and also to remove older versions.

* 1. Uninstall old versions of Sun Java via Add/Remove Programs.
* 2. Click the Remove or Change/Remove button
* 3. Reboot your PC if prompted.

to check if you have the latest version of Java and to download the latest version:

http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml?ff3

system restore the how and why:

Now that your PC is clean, make sure all programs are running properly and then you'll need to reset your restore point in Windows XP.......why?

One of the features of Windows ME,XP and Vista is the System Restore option, however if malware infects a computer it is possible that the malware could be backed up in the System Restore folder. Therefore, clearing the restore points is a good idea after malware is removed.

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

(winXP)

1. Turn off System Restore. (deletes old possibly infected restore point)
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.(new restore points on a clean system)
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK, then reboot

if all is good, some tips for you:

Reducing Your Risk To Malware:
The Short Version:

1) Keep your OS (http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us),(Windows) browser (IE, FireFox) and other Software (http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/online/) up to date to "patch" vulnerabilities. Always install Service Packs.

2) Know what you are installing to your computer. Alot of software can come bundled with unwanted add-ons.You may be installing more than you think.

3) Install and keep them all updated: one antivirus and two or three anti-malware applications. If not updated they will soon be worthless.

4) Refrain from clicking on links or attachments you receive via E-Mail, IM, Chat Rooms or Social Sites, no matter how tempting or legitimate the message.

5) Don't click on ads/pop ups or offers from websites requesting that you need to install software to your computer.

6) Don't click on offers to "scan" your computer. Install ActiveX Objects with care. Do you trust the website?

7) Set up and use limited accounts for everyday use, rather than administrator accounts. Limited accounts (http://www.microsoft.com/protect/computer/advanced/useraccount.mspx) can help prevent *malware from installing.*

8) Install a third party software firewall.

9) Consider using an alternate browser and E-mail client. Internet Explorer and OutLook Express are popular targets for malicious code because they are widely used. See also: Hardening or Securing Internet Explorer. (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=6AA4C1DA-6021-468E-A8CF-AF4AFE4C84B2&displaylang=en)

10) If your habits include: warez, cracks etc or you install files via p2p networks then you are much more likely to encounter malicious code. Do you trust the source? Do you really need another malware source?

A longer version in link below.

Happy Safe Surfing.
