View Full Version : Virtuemonde infection, complete with pop-ups and disabled Security Center!

Hey hey hey, I know it's only posted ALL OVER the front page, but I also seem to have just come down with a Virtuemonde infection. Several different types, apparently... Spybot S&D shows Virtuemonde, Virtuemonde.sci, and Virtuemonde.generic on my system, and is unable to remove them.

It's wrecking havoc on my system. Streams of popups to god-knows-where every time I turn on Firefox (slowing my typing down as we speak, because I constantly have to close them out), and it completely disabled the Automatic Updates in the Windows Security Center. I think at one point it even turned off my firewall, but it only did that once, and I managed to turn it back on.

I've been to a few different forums looking for help, but not once have I gotten a reply... I'm hoping my luck will change here. I ran HJT, renamed the program to something random as many users are advised to do, and here's my log...

If it makes any difference, I DID do this scan shortly after Spybot's latest round of scanning and supposed (but ineffective) fixing of the problem, though seeing as it never manages to remove it, I can't imagine that it would hinder our progress.

Thanks in advance to ANYONE who can manage to help me with this. I would be eternally grateful... I like to keep this computer in the best shape I can!
