For the past several days I've been going nuts with my laptop. Fake security warnings, fake registry errors, fake virus protection pop-ups & ads for everything from viagra to costumes. I was ready to pull my hair out!
I use AVG Freeware but that just wasn't handling the problem. I read a thread in the AVG forum with suggestions on how to clean your computer. I followed his suggestions first with the pop-up blocker, no luck. Then I took his suggestion and downloaded Spybot. My goodness, the whole process took hours but I have to say that my laptop runs more smoothly that ever before and every bit of hidden spyware, malware, etc is gone. I can't thank you enough. Being as I'm broke as hell after holiday gifting, a trip to the laptop shop was just not possible. However, I am going to donate.

Consider posting in the Malware Removal (http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22) forum and having someone take a look at your system.

If you decide to have an experienced malware removal specialist assist you, please follow the procedure in this link to run scans and produce a HijackThis log: "BEFORE you POST"(READ this Procedure BEFORE Requesting Assistance) ( http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288).
After you have completed the required scans and produced the requested logs, start your own thread in the Malware Removal (http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22) forum, making sure to post the HijackThis log produced from the above instructions.
