I'm trying to install spybotsd on a system that is infected with "rapid antivirus". This mal prevents access to most security sites including this one. I'd like to be able to clear this up without reinstalling windows, but none of the many solutions I've seen online seem to work with this version of the mal. I've tried:
- hosts file
- dsn
- router
- fix winsock using microsoft's utility and LSPFix
- look for various rogue drivers.

Is there a way to install spybotsd offline? Can I set it up on another computer and then copy the complete package to the patient?

thanks/peter

pkwooster:

If you cannot access the Internet, download the latest updates for Spybot here:
http://www.spybotupdates.biz/updates/files/spybotsd_includes.exe
-
If you wish, you can start your own thread in the Malware Removal Forum and have a specialist help remove the malware from your machine.

Thanks,

How do I make the install use these updates and not try to go to the net to look for more?

Problem is that when you lack Internet access and you can't update Spybot with the updater, you'll have to go to that site and fetch the latest updates from there.

I understand that. Now that I have the software and the updates how do I install it? The install wants to go to the site.

The answer is in post 41 of the sticky topic"can't connect to server". You turn off the immediate update option and then use the manual updater.

You'll have to untick "Download Updates Immediately" during the installation wizard.

How is it going?
