Hello Virus-busters, I'm here to ask for some advice. Firstly, if this post isn't in the correct section then could a moderator please be kind enough to move it there - thanks.

I've recently (only in the last couple of days, in fact) been having some serious problems with my computer. I'm currently getting virus alerts every few minutes and there are all sorts of other problems occurring which I've never experienced before. I've never had any significant problems before that I'm aware of but at the moment things seem to be getting worse by the minute.

Here are the programs that I'm currently using:

AVG Free Edition
Windows Defender

I've tried to install Spybot S&D but keep having problems with it not responding so I haven't been able to use that yet. The first time the program stopped responding was straight after installation when the program asked me if I wanted to back up my current situation incase I wanted to refer back to it. I clicked 'yes' and the program froze. I then tried re-installing and the same thing happened.

When I did manage to use the program, it asked me about some registry changes. I wasn't sure what the registry changes were so I 'denied' them. I subsequently got the process repeating every few seconds which caused 'Resident' messages to start piling up at the far right of my screen.

Anyway, here's a brief list of some of the problems I've experienced in the last half-hour alone:

A virus called FakeAlert is repeatedly detected by AVG
Trojan Horse Vundo.CV
Trojan Horse BHO.GUL
Trojan Horse Agent.ASXK
Trojan Horse Generic12.QGX
Trojan Horse BHO.GLZ
Trojan Horse SHeur2.JEL
etc. etc.

I'm sure you'll be needing much more information that I've given you so please don't hesitate to ask. As you can probably tell, I'm not the most competent person when it comes to this kind of thing so any help or guidance would be very much appreciated.

Thank you

Well, in the last couple of hours things seem to of calmed down a bit and I'm not being attacked every few minutes.

When I made my original post I was in a bit of a panic because I could hardly do anything without virus-alerts or random windows popping up! Now the situation has calmed down a bit I've had the opportunity to read through the forum a bit more and now realise that I need to post a scan report of some sort. I'll try and get this sorted out and post it here once I've done so.

Right idea, wrong place. The following is a canned response stolen from another thread:

Consider posting in the Malware Removal (http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22) forum and having someone take a look at your system.

If you decide to have an experienced malware removal specialist assist you, please follow the procedure in this link to run scans and produce a HijackThis log: "BEFORE you POST"(READ this Procedure BEFORE Requesting Assistance) ( http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288).
After you have completed the required scans and produced the requested logs, start your own thread in the Malware Removal (http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22) forum, making sure to post the HijackThis log produced from the above instructions.

Thanks for the response bitman - I'll follow your instructions.

I thought I may be in the wrong place here but when I clicked Support > Forum this is where I ended up. Plus I was in a bit of a rush at the time... :)
