I posted a question re SpyHunter a day or two ago. You referred me to an old (2006/7) thread which did not address my question re whether SpyHunter should still be considered to be malware.

You then, in a piece of good customer relations, closed the thread. :lip:

On further examination I see there have been other threads on this matter, which I was unaware of but none of them really made a proper assessment of the current situation.
As a result I have crawled all over their website and can find no evidence of any nefarious behind the scenes activity but maybe I haven't got the technical facilities available.

Can this matter be reconsidered?

Threads about SpyHunter might get closed to avoid speculation, since Enigma trolls like to interpret quite far fetched things into posts users made just to threaten. We would not want any of our forum users to get into that trouble.

We do stand up to our classification of SpyHunter though and would not cave in to legal threats like other companies did as long as we are convinced we need to protect our users.

Finally, we do not want to endanger our efforts to force them to get their things onto the right track (harder to believe by the day ;) ), which is another reason we currently will not speak about it. When that situation changes, you'll very likely find an announcement.

1. Investigations of Spyhunter Version 3.9.25 of 18-03-2009 show,
that the software does not comply with the ASCs
(http://www.antispywarecoalition.org) definitions for
classification as malware or spyware.

2. Safer-Networking Ltd. will not give subsequent reviews of older
versions of Spyhunter.

3. Questions about data transfered to the web by Spyhunter should be
addressed to Enigma.

4. If you suspect Spyhunter (later than 3.9.25 of 18.03.2009) of
complying with ASCs definitons for classification as malware,
please send your information to detections@spybot.info
