infected with spyware but unsure what kind

Hi. I'm looking for some help removing spyware, and this seems to be the best method available.
I'm not very computer-proficient, so I don't know if this information helps at all, but I felt I should include it anyway. I've put the HJT log last.

- The virus/malware infected my computer on either 12/30/08 or 12/31/08 and it began as isolated non-frequent forms of annoyance (shortcuts to inappropriate stuff on my desktop, pop-ups, ect.) to continuous, seemingly unpreventable things (a flashing "WARNING" sign, clearly from the spyware or scam thing that recieved my info from the spayware, has covered my desktop; my documents folder opens up occasionally as well as pop-ups for a scam scan and antivirus pro 2008 which are always the same pop-ups, fake security alerts from my taskbar, ect.). Also, things like "related computer connection" or something similar to that (it is that connection that lets you work on a computer from a different computer) appeared in my files and programs. I removed them, but I fear that some kind of connection may have already been made.

- I downloaded and attempted to install Spybot S&D, Malwarebyte's Anti-malware, and Ad-aware 2008 (at seperate times), but whenever I tried to install them the same thing happened for each: the run/cancel window opened, I clicked "run", and for a moment a "choose language for installation" window opened, but immediately a cluster of application errors appear and prevent me from continuing installation.

- I was able to download and install Norton Antivirus and run scans. It detected trojan.vundo among other trojans and spyware-type things (there was a cookie tracker, for example). When Norton claimed to have fixed the viruses, I restarted my computer but nothing had changed. I did this multiple times, but to no avail.

Step 1

Please produce uninstall list:
Open HijackThis.
Click on the Open the Misc Tools section button.
Look under System tools.
Click on the Open Uninstall Manager... button.
Click on the Save list... button.
It will prompt you to save. Save this log in a convenient location. By default it's named uninstall_list.txt.
Notepad will open. Please post this log in your next reply.

Step 2


Please download LSPFix from here (http://www.cexx.org/LSPFix.exe).
Disconnect from the internet and run the LSPFix.exe that you have just finished downloading.
Check the I know what I'm doing box.
In the Keep box you should see one or more instances of ntdll64.dll.
Select every instance of ntdll64.dll and move each one to the Remove box by clicking the >> button.
When you are done click Finish>>.

Step 3

We will begin with ComboFix. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows:


Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix, link (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html)
Remember to re-enable them afterwards.


Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you. Please post that report in your next reply.

A word of warning: Please do not run ComboFix on your own. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.

Please post a fresh HijackThis log, Uninstall list and Combofix log.
