I was told by Best Buy I have this issue with my laptop. Installed Norton AV2009 and it found nothing.

Also it is Vista and I tried running the teatimer.bat and it says unsupported version.

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance) http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

I apologize for the wait, volunteers are swamped at all forums with infected computers. If you have resolved your issues, please post to let me know so I can close this topic.

It's been a long time since you posted and Vista is new. I don't know that I can help but I will do what I can, first some information.

1)
I was told by Best Buy I have this issue with my laptop
I was not aware they were in the malware removal business? Sounds like the are in the sell antivirus program business?

2) ntkrnlpa.exe <<< looks like part of the Operating System?
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=ntkrnlpa.exe+&btnG=Search

3) I don't see any malware in the HJT log?

4)
Also it is Vista and I tried running the teatimer.bat and it says unsupported version.
The Before you post instructions state plainly in bold print:

Not for use in Vista.
I am making only a guess, but it would be Best Buy sold you an expensive antivirus system when what you probably have is a hardware issue. Not being familar with Vista hardware, I would probably suggest a good free Vista forum, but why don't you provide a little more information than:

8 viruses & ntkrnlpa.exe

I am especially interested in any symptoms, and any error message you are receiving. Post the error messages word for word.

Thanks...Phil

I did see after that Spybot is not for Vista so I removed it. I took it to Best Buy because it is still under warranty. Not knowing what was causing the issue I figured let them have a go at it. It would boot up fine in safe mode, but if you tried a regular boot up after the welcome screen it would go black for a few seconds then the pointing arrow would come up for a few seconds then the screen would go black again and that was all, except it did beep but dont remember where. They thought it was either a bad hard drive or corrupt OS so they were to run a diagnostic on it and when they called they told me of the 8 viruses abd the ntkrnla.exe. They offered to remove them and install an antivirus for $300, but since I had the extended warranty it would only cost $220. I said no thanks as I have a new antivirus at home and will install it, I forgot to mention it had an antivirus but was expired, and when I did the install it found no viruses. They did create another profile and moved everything over to it and now the screen does go black when you go into certain areas like system configuraton. So I do not really think it is a virus thing. But I wanted to have someone with more knowledge to look at the HJT log, and I appeciate you doing so.

If the computer was under warrenty, they should either fix it or replace it, but that's between you and best Best Buy. I will not be able to help, I don't really think this is a malware issue. I suggest one of these free Vista forums, both are good:

http://help.lockergnome.com/vista/
http://thevistaforums.com/

Thanks
