Hello Jason? You have a pretty good mess here and I am going to suggest you keep this computer offline as much as possible as these infections do attract others and you have your share right now. We will be using some specialized tools so it is important that you follow the directions carefully. An expert with these fixes may stop in to ask for files so they can be investigated, if this occurs, I would appreciate it if you would cooperate to the best of your ability, thanks.
Thanks to LonnyRJones and any others who helped with this fix.
Download Brute Force Uninstaller to your C:\
http://www.merijn.org/files/bfu.zip
Unzip it to a folder of its own (C:\BFU). So BFU should be on your root. In most cases this is C:\
Download qoofix.bat: http://downloads.subratam.org/Lon/qooFix.bat
(rightclick on this link and choose save as)
Place qoofix.bat in your C:\BFU - folder. (Important!)
Doubleclick qooFix.bat, Close all browsers and explorer folders.
Choose option 1 (Qoolfix autofix) and follow the prompts.
Please be patient, it will take about five minutes.
After the PC has restarted please post another hijackthis log.
Thanks...pskelley

thank you so much for helping me out. I followed your instructions. the problem though, is that when I run the Qoolfix program it says that it is performing an illegal action and must shut down. Did I install something wrong??? Once again, thanks a ton for your help.

Hi Jason, let's hope so as this fix is used all of the time, and is by far the easiest way to remove that nasty Qoologic trojan. Please carefully review these instructions and I am posting them in more detail. If you have any issues, please copy the information (error messages) exactly as they occur and post those to this thread so I can ask the creator to look at them. Remember to ok any requests from your AV or firewall, the program is safe to run and to please be signed in as administrator. This will take a bit for the script to run and you will see no obvious change. This is the item we want to see gone when the fix is done:
F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,ktipckd.exe
and here are more detailed instructions, hope they help:
Thanks to Mieke for the detailed instructions.
Ok, let me explain every step again, but very detailed how to unzip properly and move that qoofix.bat in that folder.
* Rightclick on next link and choose save as: Brute Force Uninstaller
A new window will open.
You'll see below in the filename-path: bfu.zip
Now edit that filename path to: C:\bfu.zip
Then click save.
Close the windows now.
Then click My computer.
Then click C:\
You should find bfu.zip there.
Now rightclick bfu.zip
Select 'extract all'
A wizard will open.
Click next.
You'll see it will say in the filepath C:\bfu
Click next and click finish.
If you now look on your C:\, you'll find C:\bfu.zip and C:\bfu
Now rightclick on this link: qoofix.bat
Choose save as.
In the filepath, you'll see qoofix.bat
Now change that to C:\bfu\qoofix.bat and choose save.
This will place the qoofix.bat in the C:\bfu folder.
Then go to the BFU folder and doubleclick qoofix.bat.
This should start the fix.
It will also ask to reboot. After reboot, post a new hijackthislog in your next reply.
Thanks...Phil

Hi Jason, one of the experts who creates these fixes would like a copy of a file on your computer right now, and the next step we are going to use will delete it. If you can do this for us, it will help folks in the future. See what you can do, here is the file wanted: C:\WINDOWS\cfg32.exe
Here are the instructions:
I need to get samples of some of your files. Please create a folder called c:\submit. Now copy the following files into that directory:
<C:\WINDOWS\cfg32.exe>
To copy the files simply navigate to the directory they are in and right click on the file name, and then click on copy option. Now go back to the c:\submit folder and right click in the folder and select the paste option.
Once the files are all copied zip the folder and rename submit.zip to yourmembername.zip (for example grinler.zip). If you are using XP or ME right-click on the folder and click on the Send To option and then send it to a Compressed folder. You will now see a file called yourmembername.zip. If you are using another version of Windows, please download a program called Winzip and zip it using that.

Please read and follow the directions carefully.
Thanks to Metallica and any other who helped with this fix.
1. Please download Ewido Anti-Malware (http://www.ewido.net/en/download/)
Install ewido anti-malware
Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.
The program will now open to the main screen.
When you run ewido for the first time, you may get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
Then click on Start Update.
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
(the status bar at the bottom will display ("Update successful")
Exit Ewido, do not run the scan yet!
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
ewido manual updates (http://download.ewido.net/ewido-signatures-full-current.exe)
2. Please download Brute Force Uninstaller (http://www.merijn.org/files/bfu.zip) to your desktop.
Right click the BFU folder on your desktop, and choose Extract All
Click "Next"
In the box to choose where to extract the files to,
Click "Browse"
Click on the + sign next to "My Computer"
Click on "Local Disk (C:) or whatever your primary drive is
Click "Make New Folder"
Type in BFU
Click "Next", and Uncheck the "Show Extracted Files" box and then click "Finish".
3. RIGHT-CLICK HERE (http://metallica.geekstogo.com/alcanshorty.bfu) and choose "Save As" (in IE it's "Save Target As") in order to download Alcra PLUS Remover.
Save it in the same folder you made earlier (c:\BFU).
Do not do anything with these yet!
Reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping F8 until a menu appears. Highlight Safe Mode and hit enter.
4. Once in Safe Mode, Open Ewido:
Click on scanner
Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
You will be prompted to clean the first infection.
Select "Perform action on all infections", then proceed.
Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
Click Save report.
Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.
Close ewido anti-malware.
5. Then, please go to Start > My Computer and navigate to the C:\BFU folder.
Start the Brute Force Uninstaller by doubleclicking BFU.exe
Behind the scriptline to execute field click the folder icon http://metallica.geekstogo.com/foldericon.png and select alcanshorty.bfu
Press Execute and let the program do it’s job. (You ought to see a progress bar if you did this correctly.)
Wait for the complete script execution box to pop up and press OK.
Press exit to terminate the BFU program.
Reboot into normal windows and post the contents of Ewido text report that you saved and a new HiJackThis log.
Thanks...

Hi Jason, sorry to be so long with my reply. Notifications failed to notify me when you posted:confused: Thanks for submitting that file. I am not quite sure what other report is so long you could not post it. Let me know please. Here were the last two reports I requested:
Reboot into normal windows and post the contents of Ewido text report that you saved and a new HiJackThis log.
We have more work to do, first some information for you. See this:
http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/pest/pest.aspx?id=453088059
and this: http://www.spywareinfo.com/articles/p2p/
Limewire (The most current version of Limewire is reported to include spyware. LimeWire 4.9.28 is clean. Older and newer version may not be.) If you did not pay for that program, and I am not even sure about then, this program is a problem. Uninstall it in Add Remove programs and choose one of the safe free programs in the link I provided.
This program: C:\Program Files\GreatMemo\GreatMemo.exe do you know it is safe? If not, uninstall it alss. I will remove it and you can pass over those instructions if you are sure it is safe.
1) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: CExtension Object - {0019C3E2-DD48-4A6D-ABCD-8D32436323D9} - C:\WINDOWS\cfg32p.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [w03666b2.dll] RUNDLL32.EXE w03666b2.dll,I2 000d4e24003666b2
(Unless you know what the next item is, remove it. I can find nothing about it(ICROSO)You can look at the properties if you wish)
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Scbu] "C:\WINDOWS\ICROSO~1\rundll.exe" -vt yazb
O4 - Startup: GreatMemo.lnk = C:\Program Files\GreatMemo\GreatMemo.exe
O4 - Startup: LimeWire On Startup.lnk = C:\Program Files\LimeWire\LimeWire.exe
O15 - Trusted Zone: http://awbeta.net-nucleus.com (HKLM)
Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"
Enable hidden files&folders..reverse the process when finished.
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html
RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:
C:\Program Files\GreatMemo\ <<< folder
C:\Program Files\LimeWire\ <<< folder
C:\WINDOWS\ICROSO~1\ <<< folder (finding little information about this item. I believe it is bad. Here are free online scanners if you wish to scan it first)

Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Review the instructions http://www.ccleaner.com/help/tour1.asp
Run CCleaner, Windows & Applications when you run the registry cleaner (Issues) you will be prompted to backup before you can remove stuff, make sure you do.
Post a new HJT log, let me know about the log you mentioned, what it is. Let me have any comments you think will help and how is the computer running.
