:sad::sad::sad:

Help please.............

my system performed an automatic update...XP SP3 (I think) and has been unbootable ever since.

It will not boot normally or in any safe mode.

Trying to boot from XP CD into recovery Console yields a C:> prompt and I haven't a clue as to how to proceed...............I really need to recover data on this particular drive.

I have not followed procedures of turning off teatimer or running logs for the obvious reason.....it will not boot up.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.
