Hi Everyone

My first post and it's so great to have a place to come to to resolve these issues. It's very much appreciated! THANK YOU!!

I have gone through all the prep steps, I think, but couldn't get the ResetTeaTimer.bat file to download. Not sure if that's going to be a problem. Let me know if it is.

I've done countless scans on my computer with various tools, Windows Defender, Spybot, Malwarebytes, and my own personal virus protector, and I'm getting the same Trojan popping back up. The last Spybot scan I did showed virtumonde.prx. Supposedly the problem was fixed, but I'm sure if I rescanned, it would stilll be there. Very frustrating indeed!!

Here is my HJT log

Hello xJoex,

Welcome to Safer Networking.

Please read Before You Post (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288)
That said, All advice given by anyone volunteering here, is taken at your own risk.
While best efforts are made to assist in removing infections safely, unexpected stuff can happen.

When you ran Malwarebytes, did you remove all it found, some of this garbage should have been removed?

Open HijackThis > Do a System Scan Only, close your browser and all open windows including this one, the only program or window you should have open is HijackThis, check the following entries and click on Fix Checked.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {fad3fb7c-e6c2-4892-a5b9-4f341b1f318a} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\kefazuwa.dll (file missing)

Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1 (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
Link 2 (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
Link 3 (http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe)

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools
See this Link (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html) for programs that need to be disabled and instruction on how to disable them.
Remember to re-enable them when we're done.

Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c30/ken545/RcAuto1.gif

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c30/ken545/whatnext.jpg

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply along with a New Hijackthis log.

*If there is no internet connection when Combofix has completely finished then restart your computer to restore back the connections.

Hi Ken!

Thanks so much for helping me out on this. I REALLY appreciate it! I was at this point :hair: with this!!

To answer your question about the Malwarebytes scan, yes it did get rid of most of the junk. It even indicated that it FIXED everything. But the ones that kept "coming back" were the virtumonde.prx and the Vundo.H. Could be one in the same, but that's the terminology Spybot and Malwarebytes used. They're persistent little devils!!! :flame:

FYI, when disabling Teatimer, I couldn't find anything when I clicked on "system startup". However I did uncheck the Resident Teatimer box. Everything seemed to run okay, and here are my ComboFix and HJT logs.

Hello,

Some work for you to do.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here (http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Anti-Malware_d5756.html) or Here (http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe)

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.<-- Don't forget this
When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Copy and Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a New Hijackthis log.

Open Notepad Go to Start> All Programs> Assessories> Notepad ( this will only work with Notepad )and copy all the text inside the Codebox by highlighting it all and pressing CTRL C on your keyboard, then paste it into Notepad, make sure there is no space before and above File::

File::
c:\program files\hbbdwad.txt
c:\program files\efpabsf.txt
c:\program files\uvisgjn.txt
c:\program files\osayh.txt
c:\windows\Tasks\MalwareRemovalBot

Folder::
c:\program files\MalwareRemovalBot

Save this as CFScript to your desktop.

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c30/ken545/CFScriptB-4.gif

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThis log.

You have a bunch of driver files that are not looking to good, we need to check them before we delete them.

You need to enable windows to show all files and folders, instructions Here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html)

Go to VirusTotal (http://www.virustotal.com/) and submit these files for analysis, just use the BROWSE feature and then Send File , you will get a report back, post the report into this thread for me to see.

You can remove this with HJT unless you know what it is and know it to be safe.

Have you enabled windows to show all files and folders??

These may be gone?? If you don't see any of them then don't worry about it.

c:\windows\system32\drivers\jptsv.sys
Go to My Computer> C:\Drive > Windows > System32 > Drivers > ptsv.sys

How are things running now??

No Ken, I don't know what this is, so I deleted it through HJT.

c:\windows\system32\drivers\jptsv.sys

I double checked all the steps to show all files and folders in windows and everything looks as it should. I still don't see these files.

How are things running now??

For the first time, I did not see any infected files from the malwarebytes scan!!! And no popups or interference while I'm online!!! I'm feeling good!!! :bigthumb: I'll feel REAL GOOD if you think all that CRAP is GONE!!!

ATF Cleaner <-- Yours to keep, run it now and then to clean out the clutter.

Malwarebytes <-- Yours to keep also, check for updates and run a scan now and then.

Combofix <---Is not a general cleaning tool, just run it with supervision or you can bork your system

Click START then RUN
Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.

Keep in mind if you install some of these programs. Only ONE Anti Virus and only ONE Firewall is recommended, more is overkill and can cause you problems. You can install all the Spyware programs I have listed without any problems. If you install Spyware Blaster, you can still install Spybot Search and Destroy but do not enable the TeaTimer in Spybot.

Here are some free programs to install, all free and highly regarded by the fine people in the Malware Removal Community

Spybot Search and Destroy 1.6 (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/)
Check for Updates/ Immunize and run a Full System Scan on a regular basis. If you install Spyware Blaster ( Recommended ) then do not enable the TeaTimer in Spybot Search and Destroy.

Spyware Blaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html) It will prevent most spyware from ever being installed. No scan to run, just update about once a week and enable all protection.

Spyware Guard (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard.html) It offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts, again, no scan to run, just install it and let it do its thing.

IE-Spyad (http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,23332-order,1-page,1-c,antispywaretools/description.html)
IE-Spyad places over 6000 web sites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.

Firefox 3 (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/) It has more features and is a lot more secure than IE. It is a very easy and painless download and install, it will no way interfere with IE, you can use them both.

Thanks Ken! Much thanks to you and all the volunteers here willing to help the rest of us out. I really did not know what else to do about this problem. I've been struggling with this infection for 2 weeks now. I got no real support from the internet security I subscribed to. Do you have any reliable free antivirus programs? I believe I've seen a few links on here. I'd much rather unsubscribe to a paid internet security provider and donate money to you guys. You all ROCK!!! THANKS!!

Good Morning Joe,

We all have our own personal preferences with Anti Virus programs, my self, been using Norton for years and am very happy with it. Norton is a love hate relationship, some hate it and some love it, I have never had a problem with Norton Internet Security which includes AV, Anti Spyware and a Firewall.

http://www.symantec.com/norton/internet-security

If you wanted to go the free route, I also use this one on one of my systems and am happy with it also.

AVG Free (http://free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-anti-virus-free/lng/us/tpl/v5)

Free Firewall
Zone Alarm (http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,7228,00.asp)

You should only have One AV and One Firewall, more is overkill and will cause issues, just pick one, keep it updated and run a scan once a week or so.

I am also linking you to some free programs to install that will help keep you more secure and there all free and recommended by the fine folks in the malware removal community.

ATF Cleaner <-- Yours to keep, run it now and then to clean out the clutter.

Hi Ken

Just wanted to let you know that I just completed a full malwarebytes scan on my computer and it was completely clean! NICE JOB!!

I think I'm going to give these two a try. If I feel comfortable with them, do you feel they would be a better choice than FSecure? I wasn't too pleased with the support they gave me.

[quote]I am also linking you to some free programs to install that will help keep you more secure and there all free and recommended by the fine folks in the malware removal community.

ATF Cleaner <-- Yours to keep, run it now and then to clean out the clutter.

I have malwarebytes already, but where can I get ATF Cleaner? And what do you mean by clutter?

Am I supposed to run this Ken? And just this once? What do you mean by "borking your system"?

Thanks for all your tips. I really appreciate it. I've downloaded most of the spyware you've listed. I will read through all the tutorials too, so I can keep my system working well. I don't want any more nasties on my puter!

Thanks again!! :bigthumb:

Hello,

Your call on the AV, if you chose one and don't like it you can always uninstall it and try another.

Forgot to post the ATF Cleaner link, this you can run once or twice a month to clean out all the temp and internet temp files that tend to clog down your system.

Please download ATF Cleaner (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1) by Atribune to your desktop.

This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.Your system may start up slower after running ATF Cleaner, this is expected but will be back to normal after the first or second boot up
Please note: If you use online banking or are registered online with any other organizations, ensure you have memorized password and other personal information as removing cookies will temporarily disable the auto-login facility.

Click START then RUN
Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.
Running that script will remove Combofix and all the files associated with it from your computer. What I mean by borking your system is that people read these forums and try to do what someone else has done and they forget that all systems and infections are different and that Combofix is a very powerful tool and if not run properly can sometimes damage a computer, you should only run it when instructed to by a helper in the forum.

Take Care Joe :p:
