One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan.

This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and Download and Execute files

I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

Though the Trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it''s backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. Hi Shaba,

I have had that PC disconnected from the internet, except to post the HJT file, since I discovered these infections. I have decided to reformat and reinstall the OS, as I can't stand the thought of not having a secure machine.

I have read quite a few other threads about the same apparent infections (virtumonde & smitfraud-c), and this is the 1st time I have seen anybody get a recommendation to to format their hard drive and reinstall the OS. As a learning experience for myself and others, can you share if these 2 infections are the "backdoor" infections, or if it is something else? Also, please clarify, does "reformat and reinstall OS" guarantee a clean computer, at least to start with? Is a wireless router a security issue for these types of infections?

No, those infections are not dangerous but this one is:

F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,C:\WINDOWS\system32\twext.exe,

It is a password stealer which is able to steal logon credentials for web sites including online bank.

If you need help with reformatting, let me know. Let me know anyway as I will give you some prevention tips.
