Some kind of virus (or viruses) have hijacked my computer, altering my desktop browser and administrator permissions (I am the sole user of this PC, and not on a network).
I'm running Windows XP Home 2002 SP3.
Here are the symptoms:
-Cannot access registry edit
-Cannot access Task Manager
-Cannot launch most applications
-Spybot, specifically, gives me a "floating point error"
-Cannot install new applications, including anti-virus software, due to administrator permission denial.
-Desktop has been replaced with a poorly typed warning about viruses
-Browser is routinely hijacked, and bannered with a warning about viruses and a link to some "Anti Virus Pro 2009" that I will not click.
-Slower performance
Here is one of the links it routinly hijacks too, opening up a new tab in Firefox (Do not click!!!) Removed (Do not click!!!) Which sends me to a flashing add telling me I'm out of space, to delete temporary files, and click the link for a free virus scan.
By doing some research I've managed to gain access to the registry and bring back my access to the Task Manager, but i'm not sure what to do from there. I've also downloaded HijackThis! and come here to post the log results, hoping someone can help me.
(note, there is one process from the task manager called 7z.exe, which I ended beforehand because it was suspicious, and ending it seemed to go hand in hand with things working better...could just be a coincidence/perception thing, though).
