View Full Version : _agobot-ku_ Worm
Hi
I am a little worried that spybot picked up a blank start-up entry system32.exe and said that it is related to the above worm. My spybot, norton, spywareblaster definitions are all up to date.
Please let me know what logs you want me to post in order for you to have a look.
The other thing that has worried me also is that a couple of weeks ago some of the protection in spyware blaster had been automatically disabled. I re-enabled the protection but was wondering how this happened?
Many thanks:)
Please let me know what logs you want me to post in order for you to have a look.

Hello
That log looks ok
Go get another kaspersky online scan and post its report please
Hi Lonny
Below is the report, again it came up clean. I tried to delete the blank registry entry in start-up using the tool in spybot although it regenerates every time I reboot.
Thanks again for any suggestions you have.
Have you any idea why some of the protection would have disabled in spyware blaster?
Report is empty.
Please note: The free Kaspersky On-line Scanner does not provide comprehensive protection and cannot prevent future infections. It only detects malware that has already penetrated your storage devices. We strongly recommend that you use a fully-functional antivirus solution to protect your computer at all times.
Please wait, this process may take a long time depending on the selected target. If you want to continue browsing, open a new window.
Scan Progress [98%]:
Total number of scanned files: 31503
Number of viruses found: 0
Number of infected objects: 0
Number of suspicious objects: 0
Duration of the scan process: 00:31:55

Lets try Ewido
Please download Ewido AntiMalware
Install Ewido AntiMalware
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Launch Ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.
The program will now open to the main screen.
You will need to update Ewido to the latest definition files.
On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
Then click on Start Update.
Afterwards
Click on scanner.
Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
If Ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. You can select "remove" and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" before clicking on OK.
Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
Click Save report.
Ewido automatically saves the report here on every scan:
(default program installation folder)
C:\Program Files\ewido\security suite\Reports
Now close Ewido AntiMalware and post that report
If you have any problems with ewido run it while the PC is in safe mode
Ok Thanks. Will post the results tommorrow.
I have since worked out that the blank registry entry created in my startup was in fact created by Adobe 7.0, so maybe it isn't malicious? Not sure what you think? (I reinstalled today it and noticed the changes)
This is the information given in Spybot about the entry;
Current filename:
Database status: Not required - virus, spyware, malware or other resource hog
Value:
Filename: system32.exe
Description
Added by the _AGOBOT-KU_ WORM! Note - has a blank entry under the Startup Item/Name field
Source: Paul Collins Startup list
Again Ewido came up clean (log below). I think it may be a false alarm? It may be worth noting my previous post when updating the start-up tool in Spybot regarding the blank entry created with the installation of Adobe Acrobat 7.0
Thanks again for all your help, you guys do a great job.:)
Cheers John
