Hi - can you add The Best Offers Newtork to your detection list? I am cleaning up a friend's computer and can't get rid of this program, even after visiting the website and running the on-line Uninstall Utility.

Here's some info about The Best Offers Network which is part of a company called Direct Revenue:

Additional info:
STATE SUES MAJOR "SPYWARE" DISTRIBUTOR

Direct Revenue Accused of Vast, Elusive Pattern of Spyware Installations

Attorney General Eliot Spitzer today sued one of the most elusive internet spyware companies, alleging that the firm surreptitiously installed millions of pop-up ad programs on consumers' computers.

NOTICE OF PROPOSED SETTLEMENT. To: ALL PERSONS OR ENTITIES WHO OWNED COMPUTERS IN ILLINOIS AND. WHO HAD DIRECTREVENUE, LLC OR BETTERINTERNET, LLC ...

I sure hope you can find all the entries in the registry for this program. I found several called TBONAS, but there obviously are more.

Thanks

180 Solutions has a long history, multi-layers of security are the best route.

For IE:

8. ) IE-SPYAD (https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm) puts over 20,000 sites in your restricted zone, so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
General HOSTS:

Another good hosts program is mvpshosts (http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.zip). This little program packs a powerful punch as it block ads, banners, 3rd party Cookies, 3rd party page counters, web bugs, and many hijackers. For information on how to download and install, please read this tutorial (http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm).
So how did I get infected in the first place? By Tony Klein (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=279 )

None of my browsers would open hxxp://www.bestoffersnetworks.com/ when I entered the live url. ;)

Tashi - thanks for responding, but I would like Spybot to add this program to its scanning and removal functions. I also need to know how to get rid of it.

It's not clear to me that the links you provided will help me get rid of The Best Offers Network program. It's on the computer of a friend, so tips on how to prevent having the program install won't help me at this point.

You and/or your friend should consider posting in the Malware Removal forum and have someone take a look at the system. Follow the instructions here:

Ok - thanks, I will post there as well, but I still would like the Spybot folks to consider adding The Best Offers program to their Spybot removal tool.

An update - I was uncertain what information I was supposed to post on the Malware site, and I see that my post there has been archived.

Anyway, Dell sent restore disks and I was able to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the operating system.

I am just checking to see if The Best Offer Networks will eventually be added to Spybot's detection program.

Thanks.
