Spybot finds myway.mywebsearch but cannot delete it because "The file may be in use... can Spybot run again at start up?"

I allow Spybot to run again but get the same message.

When looking at the details after a scan, it reports:

myway.mywebsearch PUPSC

(SBI $OEEF2CA2)

Program directory C:Program files\Ask TBar\

Have looked at similar threads but cannot find a complete answer.

I believe that PUP stands for Possibly Unwanted Program, however, I cannot find Ask TBar listed in Add/Remove Programs.

Could it be Ask Jeeves Toolbar? Even if it is, I cannot see that listed in Program Files either.

Help please.

Sorry to reply to my own post but I seem to have found the solution.

As Ask TBar did not appear in Add/Remove Programs, I did a search for it.

I made sure that I included "Look in hidden files and folders".

Sure enough, up it came. It included two sub-folders, PopSwatter and History.

Looked in Ask TBar folder properties and noticed that it had a "Read only" attribute.

Removed this and "Applied". I then deleted the folder along with sub-folders.

Re-booted and ran Spybot. This time it didn't find any problems. Sorted.

Hello,

It seems that there are subfolders that are not being detected and therefore the main folders can't be deleted.
Please have a look at your folders and if possible tell us all the file paths you have left on your system. These are part of it, but there should be more.

C:\Program Files\FunWebProducts\
C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\
C:\WINDOWS\wt\
C:\Program Files\funwebproducts\Shared

If possible please delete the folder and its whole content manually.

Best regards
