Hello duckdodger1,
I will be assisting you with your malware issues.
Whatever repairs we make, are for fixing your computer problems only and by no means should be used on another computer.
Continue to respond to this thread until I give you the All Clean! If you have any question or you're stuck in there please reply it to me. I will try my best to help you!
Please bookmark or favourite this page. In case you need it as reference or etc.
If you fail to reply in 5 days period from now, this thread will close, and you will have to open another topic, and wait for another helper.
----------------------------------------------
I need you to download HijackThis again, and let it install in it's own folder.
Download HijackThis
Download HJTInstall.exe (http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/_download/HJTInstall.exe) to your Desktop.
Doubleclick HJTInstall.exe to install it.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
Click on Install.
It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
Close HijackThis.
Then remove this copy of HijackThis.
C:\Downloads\computer help\HijackThis.exe
The reason i need you to do this, is because we need HijackThis to be in it's own Folder, so it may keep up the backups for the fixes we make.
----------------------------------------------
RENAME HIJACKTHIS
There is some infection hiding in your log.
Using Windows Explore by right-clicking the Start button and left clicking Explore navigate to:
C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe
Right-click on HijackThis.exe & select Rename to scanner.exe and post back a new Hijackthis log.

Hi Chryssi, thanks for the help. I'm not real computer savvy, but I'll do my best. I tried to navigate to the HJT exe. and just got to the HJT icon in the file. I don't see where it says HJT exe. I did get rid of the other and downloaded the new one. This is the new log. Also, I did download Malwarebytes before your reply and scanned a couple times with it. It appears to have removed all the viruses, but the computer is alot slower and does some weird stuff still(AVG won't stop scanning and some windows take forever to close). Here's a log for Malwarebytes also.

Hello duckdodger1,
It looks like Malwarebytes removed a lot.
AVG won't stop scanning and some windows take forever to close
Your AVG is not installed properly. It should be in it's own folder, and not like it shows here:
C:\Downloads\computer help\avgcsrvx.exe
Please uninstall it, and reinstall it properly, it will install by default in it's own folder, just read an proceed upon installation.
Here is the link:
AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition (http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1)
Re-Download it, update, and run it, and let it remove/guarantee what it finds.
Tell me if you still have problems with it.
----------------------------------------------
I'm not real computer savvy, but I'll do my best
HijackThis is installed fine now, at least in it's own folder.
Please have in mind, whatever program you download, it's better to be in it's own folder.
If you have any problems, following any instructions from any post of mine, please ask before proceeding.
----------------------------------------------
Download and run Combofix
This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.
ComboFix SHOULD NOT be used unless requested by a forum helper
Please download ComboFix from one of these locations:
Link 1 (http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe)
Link 2 (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
Link 3 (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop
Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools.
If you need help to disable your protection programs see here. (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html)
Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v706/ried7/RcAuto1.gif
Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v706/ried7/whatnext.png
Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
When finished, it will produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.
If you need help, see this link:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix
----------------------------------------------
Post back:
Combofix report.
A new HijackThis log.
Let me know how AVG8 installation worked.

COMBOFIX-Script
A word of warning: Please do not run ComboFix on your own. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.
Please open Notepad (Start -> Run -> type notepad in the Open field -> OK) and copy and paste the text present inside the code box below:
Registry::
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\windows]
"AppInit_DLLs"=""
Save this as CFScript.txt and change the "Save as type" to "All Files" and place it on your desktop.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif
Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before following the steps below.. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
If you need help to disable your protection programs see here. (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html)
Referring to the screenshot above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.
ComboFix will now run a scan on your system. It may reboot your system when it finishes. This is normal.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.
CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Hello duckdoger1,
I am glad the pc is working fine, you did very well with all my instructions. :bigthumb:
Is guess AVG8 is behaving better now.
----------------------------------------------
Update Adobe Reader
Recently there have been vunerabilities detected in older versions of Adobe Reader. It is strongly suggested that you update to the current version. Adobe Reader 9.
You can download it from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
After installing the latest Adobe Reader, uninstall all previous versions.
If you already have Adobe Photoshop® Album Starter Edition installed or do not wish to have it installed UNcheck the box which says Also Download Adobe Photoshop® Album Starter Edition.
If you don't like Adobe Reader, you can download Foxit PDF Reader from here (http://www.filehippo.com/download_foxit/download/423817ca4028434efe3f6174b07468b0/FoxitReader30_enu_Setup.exe).
It's a much smaller file to download and uses a lot less resources than Adobe Reader.
Note: When installing FoxitReader, be carefull not to install anything to do with AskBar.)
----------------------------------------------
I can't see any firewall in your HijackThis log, so i assume you use windows firewall.
FIREWALL
Without a firewall your computer is susceptible to being hacked and taken over. If you use the Windows Firewall you might think that's sufficient but it only controls one way of the traffic (inbound). Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly. It's preferable to install one of the suggested firewalls.
Vista users, must check compatibility with Vista before installation.

Tutorial about Firewalls can be found here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial60.html)
----------------------------------------------
Latest version of Java doesn't show in HijackThis log, so i want you to go in your Add/Remove programs, and see if you have the latest update which is "Java Runtime Environment Version 6 Update 11. If this is the one you have ignore the below instructions.
If you have an earlier version, follow the instructions below.
----------------------------------------------
Update Java Runtime
You are using an old version of Java. Sun's Java is sometimes updated in order to eliminate the exploitation of vulnerabilities in an existing version. For this reason, it's extremely important that you keep the program up to date, and also remove the older more vulnerable versions from your system. The most current version of Sun Java is: Java Runtime Environment Version 6 Update 11.
Go to Java Site (http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp)
Click to Download Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 11
In Platform box choose Windows.
Check the box to Accept License Agreement and click Continue.
Click on Windows Offline Installation, click on the link under it which says "jre-6u11-windows-i586-p.exe" and save the downloaded file to your desktop.
Go to Start => Control Panel => Add or Remove Programs
Uninstall all old versions of Java (Java 3 Runtime Environment, JRE or JSE)
Install the new version by running the newly-downloaded file with the java icon which will be at your desktop, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Congratulations your machine appears to be clean! :)
Here are some free programs I recommend that could help you improve your computer's security.
Spybot Search and Destroy 1.6
Download it from here (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html). Just choose a mirror and off you go.
Find here the tutorial on how to use Spybot properly here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial43.html)
Install SpyWare Blaster 4.0
Download it from here (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html)
Find here the tutorial on how to use Spyware Blaster here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial49.html)
Install WinPatrol
Download it from here (http://www.winpatrol.com/download.html)
Here you can find information about how WinPatrol works here (http://www.winpatrol.com/features.html)
Install MVPS Hosts File from here (http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm)
The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer.
Find Tutorial here : http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
Update your Antivirus programs and other security products regularly to avoid new threats that could infect your system.
You can use one of these sites to check if any updates are needed for your pc.
Secunia Software Inspector (http://secunia.com/software_inspector/)
F-secure Health Check (http://www.f-secure.com/weblog/archives/00001356.html)
Visit Microsoft often to get the latest updates for your computer.
http://www.update.microsoft.com
Note 1: If you are running Windows XP SP2, you should upgrade to SP3.
Note 2: Users of Norton Internet Security 2008 and newer versions should uninstall the software before they install Service Pack 3.
The security suite can then be reinstalled afterwards.
Please check out Tony Klein's article "How did I get infected in the first place?" (http://www.malwareremoval.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=4959)

Hi Chryssi, one more question. What is your opinion of AVG, is there something better? Also should I leave the Teatimer disabled? Thanks for all your help-you people are GREAT, while the virus makers should be in jail!!!

Hello duckdodger1,
Well AVG8 is a good Anti-Virus program, but it takes too long to scan.
I had it on my pc and removed it due to that fact, but it is a very good Anti-Virus.
I installed Antivir, it's quicker. You can try it if you want. I will explain how to uninstall an Anti-Virus and install a new one for future use.
I will give you 2 links to free Anti-Virus programs. Be sure you have only 1 Anti-Virus installed.
Print my instructions if you want or save them to Notepad.
Antivir PersonalEditionClassic (http://www.free-av.com/)
-Free anti-virus software for Windows.
-Detects and removes more than 50,000 viruses. Free support.
avast! 4 Home Edition (http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html)

Chryssi, I don't know if you'll still answer this thread or not and I hate to bother you, as busy as you are. But I forgot to tell you that my 3.0 Service Pack 2 will not update successfully and hasn't been for alittle while. Any ideas-Thanks Jim

Hello duckdodger1,
I can only give you some first aid with this problem. I am trained for malware, and i am not the proper person to help you out with this.
Do you mean you can't update to SP3?
First you download SP3 package on your desktop.
You better go off Internet and disable you protection programs so they do not interfere.
Double click to install it. You have to wait as it's a big update.
If after using the following method it still can't install, you can contact Microsoft, or try posting at a GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING FORUM so they can help you.
