Turns out I opened an infected .exe file that AVG said was clean. Damn thing installed a ton of stuff on my machine, and I immiedietly tried my best to get rid of everything.

Here's my current hijackthis log after running Spybot, Ad-aware, MS Antispyware, ewido and multiple AVG scans:

I know there's something left behind as AVG just reported trojan Downloader.Generic.ZWB during my daily scan.

Sorry for not clarifying sooner, but that's not a helper note.

A friend had me looking at his computer, so that was all his stuff. I forgot to reply to the end of that thread. Sorry about that.

Here's another note:
If I click Start>Run
and type f:\hijackthis (my HJT folder), ewido pops up an infection for:
Adware.BookedSpace

Looks good, are there any problems ?

I suggest you uninstall Microsoft antispyware reboot then replace it with there new program, windows defender.

Thanks a million! It's working without problems now.

My understanding was that Windows Defender was missing features that Antispyware has. That's the only reason I haven't upgraded. If that's not the case, I'll definitely upgrade in a heartbeat.

Again, thanks for the help!

I would still replace it with current version, Im unsure of any feature changes.

Think Prevention:
Put in place a good hosts file
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
How To Download and Extract the HOSTS file:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts2.htm
Repeat that proccess about once or twice a month

To help avoid reinfection see "So how did I get infected in the first place?"

Thanks. The first thing I did after seeing the Look2Me Destroyer killed my old hosts file was to download a new one from the same site you linked to.

I'd say that about wraps it up for this thread. Thanks a bunch!

Great :)

Im Glad we could help
Since the problems are solved Im going to close the topic now, this keeps others with similar problems from posting there logs/question here, they should start a new topic.

If you should need to post another log for the same PC let Me or Tashi know.

Thread re-opened

I downloaded Windows Defender like you suggested, and while I had it running a custom scan AVG popped up a virus warning that read as follows:

Virus Detected!
While opening file: C:\Program Files\?dobe\spoolsv.exe
Trojan Horse Downloader.Generic.ZWB

Trying to heal or move the file to the Virus Vault gives the following error:
Requested action is not available for this object. An error 0x8007007b occured.

I ran HijackThis, and there's no mention of the file anywhere in there, or anything else that looks suspicious. Furthermore, that folder isn't in my Program Files folder, and I've got it set to view hidden items. I even tried typing in the folder name and going there, but it's not showing up.

Also, a regular AVG scan doesn't produce this trojan.

Is there a chance Windows Defender is somehow scanning a file that was deleted with your previous help? I haven't done anything that would have put any spy/malware back on my machine.

If you think the topic needs to be re-open, please let me know. I'll post whatever logs are needed.

The next time your are disconnected from the internet delete
C:\Program Files\Adobe\spoolsv.exe < that file at only that location
If avg interfears temporarily turn it off

Let us know if there are any problems

Ah, I found the folder now. Thanks.

Can you explain why the folder is showing up with the name Adobe even though it's ?dobe ?

It was using special character's, which look normal in windows in dos appear with a ? mark. I assume in an attempt to hinder removal.
