Hello, I work at Arizona State University. I was wondering what the licensing terms are for educational institutions?

Thanks.

Hello,

Spybot Search and Destroy is only free for the private use.
The license agreement is available on: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/paragraphs/spybotsd_license1.html

Corporate users need to purchase a license.
There will be a 50% rebate for schools, universities (where the number of users/machines is staff only) and other non profit organisations.

So at the universities ONLY staff pcs need to pay for a license, those systems used for education only ( the students) are free.

Some more information is available on www.safer-networking.ie

Hope that answeres your questions. :-)

Best regards

I also work for a Higher-Ed institution. I was wondering if there is a multi-year discount that can be applied for longer-term licensing.

Hello,

Additional years license and update subscription are half the price of the actual first years fee.

Additional years license and update subscription are half the price of the actual first years fee.

So, there is the initial year 50% off fee for being a Educational/Non-profit, and then additional years after the first are 50% off of that fee?

So if the normal fee were 1000.
The Educational price would be 500.
And second and third years would be 250 each?
(These numbers mean nothing specifically they were just easy to calculate.)

Basically correct, but why not just use the calculator and charts found on the pricing page of the site spybotsandra linked above?

I posted the information you gave me (thank you very much it was wonderful) to our technical group and the question came back from one of our lead techs:

"So…. Are we in a “gray” area (regarding licensing) if we use the tool only to clean the malware then remove it from the system, or install it into a RAM drive so that it never remains on the system?"

I think I already know the answer to this... but coming directly from you guys would be great.

Thanks :D

Hello,

We do not recommend to use our software this way.
You will need a Service License that enables you to use our software
from a removable memory device without installation on the machines.
You will pay for the number of machines you clean with Spybot.

Best regards
