Hi everyone,

I've read the few threads on the subject and I understand (I think?) that these files are just there to 'replace' some former ones.

I'd like to know however if they are integrated by default in v 1.6.2 or if I'll need to download them anyway via the updater ?

My worry is that I intend to run Spybot 1.6.2 (installing it over S&D 1.6.0) on a very old PC that does not accept a wifi connection and running the updater at the same time (don't ask...). I need to download the definition updates separately before installing them.

So ! If those '2008' files are not by default within the new version, is there anyway I could download them separately ? and is it important to have them rather than the 'original' ones ?

Thanks for your help !:bigthumb:

Most are not. You need the updates including the ones dated 2008.

To update the detection files without using the integrated update, you can download and then execute spybotsd_includes.exe. Go to this web page:
Downloads - The home of Spybot-S&D!
http://www.spybot.info/en/download/index.html
Download this item:
Detection updates© 2009-02-11 - product description (http://www.spybotupdates.biz/updates/files/spybotsd_includes.exe)
md5: D2980E749D47256825CE837FF11BDE9A

This updates the detection rules. Only needed if you do not want to use the update function integrated into Spybot-S&D.
The direct link to that file is:
spybotsd_includes.exe (http://www.spybotupdates.biz/updates/files/spybotsd_includes.exe)
