Now I am slowly losing functionality...program by program...Iexplorer stopped responding, then media player, next firefox will open but will not connect to internet...I am doing this on an old version of Netscape...........

Spybot runs daily

McAfee is installed and seems to run daily

hi,

All we can do is get another dwonload to check for possible malware.
Could be signs of a failing HD. If i where you I would start pulling off anything you cant or dont want to lose.

link and directions:

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM) to your desktop:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click **Remove Selected.**
*A restart may be required to finish the clean up process*
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt

please post the MBAM log in reply

hi,

Combofix log dosnt look bad at all. MBAM removed some goodies. Must not be malware related.

related to your McAfee problem:

Are we done then?

Do you have any thoughts on why the system is still acting so funny? IE,

I click on a link in an e-mail from classmates.....it brings up a Netscape 8.0 window partially loads and quits....hitting refresh reloads usuallly to about the same partial page.....

If I cut and paste the same link to a new tab in Firefox, hit enter, get the hour glass for a few seconds and then nothing..........

It is not just this link from this e-mail..........if I open a new tab in firefox and manually enter the url for classmates ....samething...hour glass and nothing...

classmates is not the only site/link doing this....it just happens to be the one I tried this morning.........

Again.......Thanks for your help........

Do you have any thoughts on why the system is still acting so funny?

It dosnt seem to be a malware related problem. You ran MBAM and combofix. Both removed some goodies. You can try this with IE:
start>settings>control panel>internet options.Click on Internet Options
Under the advanced tab click the Reset Settings button.

That should be close anyway, cant check using linux right now.
