I have a friend running Microsoft Vista who is attempting to use Spybot WITHOUT teatimer. She has reinstalled several times and unchecked the teatimer box, however, after the install and reboot, teatimer.exe still shows up in the process list.

Could anyone provide some insight as to why this portion of the application continues to show up as a running process even after we have specifically asked that it not be installed.

Thanks for any information.

Locker:

Is sounds like the stratup entry for TeaTimer is still there from a previous installation.

Have your friend disable TeaTimer as follows:
Go into Spybot » Mode » Advanced Mode (answer "Yes" the Advanced Mode "Warning" dialog if necessary) » Tools » Resident.
Under the heading "Resident protection status" you will see: Resident "SDHelper" (Internet Explorer bad download blocker) active.
Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of over-all system settings) active.
Uncheck:
Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of over-all system settings) active.
