I am a multi-year user of Spybot S&D. In the latest version (1.6.2.45), I get 19.385 unprotected files (about 10%) of 219,104 files read. I've read the Forums. I have full admin rights, do not have SpywareBlaster or SpySweeper. I use Bit Defender and Windows Defender. I have clicked on "Add Spybot S&D" to HOSTS.

But I still get lots of un-immunized files.

Could you suggest a next step?

Many thanks.

Hello,

Which browser and browser version do you use exactly?
Which items are not immunized exactly?
Did you closed the browser while immunizing?
Did you try to undo the immunization and then immunize again?
Have you also used the "Check again" function from the menu bar above?
So you are logged in as admin and not as user with admin rights?
Do you have other user accounts on your pc?
Did you tried to disable your other security programs that might block the immunization?

Best regards

thansak for your response. In answer to your questions...

1. My browser and version are: Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.11
2. I closed IE and open Spybot S&D, check for updates, then run IMMUNIZE. I get the following unprotected areas:
(Under Internet Explorer 32/64 bit)
- S-1-5-20_Classes [Secure Domains] 2401 unprotected files
- S-1-5-21-3559813235-291461573-946922436-1006_Classes [Domains]
4246 unprotected files
- S-1-5-21-3559813235-291461573-946922436-1006_Classes [Secure
Domains] 4246 unprotected files
- S-1-5-21-3559813235-291461573-946922436-500_Classes
[Domains] 4246 unprotected files
- S-1-5-21-3559813235-291461573-946922436-1006_Classes [Secure
Domains] 4246 unprotected files
3. When I click the "plus" sign to run the clean immunize, unprotected numbers do not change.
4. I am the only user on this PC, and I have full administrative rights.
5. I have checked both BitDenfender and Windows Defenfer, and they permit Spybot S&D to run. I use Ad-Aware Free 8.0.2..is there a conflict?

Many thanks for your assistance.

Hi PhilippeFV,

I've heard from similar problems with Ad-Aware 8.0.2. Some of them couldn't immunize global host files for example.

But, on the other hand, I've Spybot 1.6.2.46 and Ad-Aware 8.0.2 installed on my own computer without having problems...

You could try to disable or uninstall Ad-Aware. Perhaps it will help you. ;)

Best regards,
-Matt-

Thanks Matt for your suggestion. I completely disabled Ad-Aware and this permited Spybot to 100% immunize my PC sucessfully. This is not the best way to handle it I'm sure....to turn off one package to run another, but it will do for now, until this is fixed.

Many thanks.

Since it appears that it is Ad-Aware blocking Spybot's immunization, has the problem been reported to Lavasoft (Lavasoft Support Forums (http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/))?
