We will begin with ComboFix.

Please download ComboFix from one of these locations:

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools

Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.


**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it will produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Bonesaw is a multimedia fusion application game that my son downloaded. It is located in c:\documents and settings\dylan collins\my documents\my games\bonesaw. He said that he thinks the c:\bonesaw.exe file was probably a mistake when he was trying to open the zip file.

When I went to download the ATF cleaner, a security window came up saying that this is an unsafe file.

Please download the Suspicious file Packer (http://www.safer-networking.org/files/sfp.zip) from Safer-Networking.Org and unzip it to your desktop.

Run SFP.exe.

Please copy the following lines into the Step 1: Paste Text window:
c:\documents and settings\Dylan Collins\downloaddll.dll
then click "Continue".

This will create a .cab file on your desktop named requested-files[Date/Time].cab

Looks pretty good now. How is the computer running?

EVerything seems to be running fine. No more uncontrollable browser windows or perpetual pop-ups. Everythings running much faster.

As far as that dll file goes, I have no idea what it is, nor does my son. We never knowingly use it. Can I just delete it?

Hiya :)

Ok, yes delete that downloaddll.dll file.

Then we'll remove this one leftover:
Run HijackThis, click Do a system scan only, and check the box next to each of these entries if still present. Close all other windows and press Fix checked. If something isn't there, please continue with the next entry in the list.

If there are no problems - we'll remove all used tools.

Please download OTCleanIt (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/oldtimer/OTCleanIt.exe) and save it to desktop.

Double-click OTCleanIt.exe.
Click the CleanUp! button.
Select Yes when the "Begin cleanup Process?" prompt appears.
If you are prompted to Reboot during the cleanup, select Yes.
The tool will delete itself once it finishes, if not delete it by yourself.


Note: If you receive a warning from your firewall or other security programs regarding OTCleanIt attempting to contact the internet, please allow it to do so.

Now lets uninstall ComboFix:

* Click START then RUN
* Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK

You may uninstall MBAM via Control Panel

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

This prevents your computer from connecting to harmful sites.

Firefox is faster, safer and better browser than Internet Explorer.

Keep your antivirus and firewall up-to-date
