When I try to access my taskmanager, I get an error telling me it has been disabled. When I run Spybot I get a entry called "Windows Security Center.Taskmanager. When I delete it, my TaskManager re-enables for a short period and then disables itself within minutes. Any help would be most appreciated!

ckennedy:

Are you running Windows 2000 Pro or Windows XP Pro? If you are, is your system a standalone system or is it administered by a central organization?

Actually I am not familiar with that detection, although I believe that it may be detection dealing with a group policy setting in the following registry key:

Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\DisableTaskMgr
The next time you get the detection please post the actual detection that you are getting so that we can see the registry key involved. To do that:
Run another scan.
When the scan completes, right click on the results list, select "Copy results to clipboard".
Then paste those results to a new post in this thread.
If the detection is for the DisableTaskMgr registry key, the following may give you some insight into what is happening:

I am having the same problem as ckennedy. "windows security center.task manager" keeps appearing on my list of detected spywares. I use spybot to remove it but it keeps returning.

I run windows xp x64

Did you read the following?

Along with the taskmanager error, I had the Avenue A and doubleclick spyware programs. I found the fixes for these in the forums and followed them step by step. Now spybot doesnt find any of these errors when it scans, but I am still getting random pop-up IE windows.
