I was fafing around with my NVIDIA drivers/settings and somehow made it crash.

Then this popped up.

http://www.hypergallery.co.uk/pcs/wtf_is_that

Mainly aimed at that coffee mug picture.

I've tracked it down to teatimer.exe which is part of this product.

Can you confirm that it came from teatimer.exe and was it from an Easter Egg or something else?

Did I find something new? :)

Thanks.

As far as I know Spybot has an Easter Egg. See also this topic :

http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=389&highlight=Easter

But I don't remember how to recall it. Maybe one of the Advisers can shine a light on this :)

Lol :) I found the game Easter egg :)

1) Put your speakers on. Lol :)

2) Run Spybot.

3) Left click on whatever Menu Item on the left.

4) Than left click on the symbol left from the Item Header.

5) And you can play the Knight Jump game :)

From:
Why is TeaTimer called TeaTimer?
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/faq/35.html

As we used to forget our tea, when we let it brew, we built a small tool with a system tray icon to remind us. We called this tool "TeaTimer".
When we started to develop the Resident tool for Spybot-S&D, we also needed a system tray icon for this. As we do not like having too many icons in the system tray, we decided to put both tools together and kept the name "TeaTimer".

The next version of the Resident tool will also have the functions of the original "TeaTimer".
It has been noted before (at least in the Spybot 1.4B2 version):
Tea Timer In Teatimer (from Google cached version of an old forums.net-integration.net post)
http://72.14.209.104/search?q=cache:ajQzDCjWSL0J:forums.net-integration.net/index.php%3Fshowtopic%3D27133%26view%3Dold+teatimer+mug&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=3

I have 1.4 B2. Twice I have booted up and found a minimized Spybot in the tray, along with the correct icon in the notifications area. When restored, it brings up a tea mug, complete with tea type selection for the timer. Very nice, but is there a way to turn this function off? It does not appear every time.

I have nothing against tea! I am drinking a cup as I post this. ;)!

Alan
If the real (original) TeaTimer is in the current version of Spybot's TeaTimer.exe you are not seeing a picture of a "coffee mug", it is a tea mug.

Well, this is more or less the never-activated "Tea Timer"! In front of "Seconds" would be a timer counting down the time until Tea would be ready. The window itself is usually hidden and won't get opened through normal operation, but I guess special graphic drivers play around a lot with the window status...

It was never really implemented, since we planed a bigger choice of teas to choose from, already had pictures and descriptions of those... but then didn't want to make TeaTimer more bloated than necessary ;)

Thank you, Dev people! I was worried for a moment that I got some sort of new virus or something, but decided to track it down.

Good thing I did. :D

Thanks again.

Maybe I'm just a stick-in-the-mud but I think putting an Easter Egg in a program like S&D is just plain dumb. I found it by accident when trying to look at the Hosts File and got more than a bit of a shock:fear:. The deliberate horse's neigh was an obvious clue for a Trojan along with an invitation to 'play a game' (by the way where's the 'wav' file?).

Based on the info that's lying around on the net I'm going to presume, on the balance of probability, that it IS an innocent easter egg.

I think the S&D programmers have made a rod for their own back, right to the point of completely discrediting their own product. What's to prevent a clever mischief maker inserting their own not so innocent 'easter egg' into the S&D environment. The User wouldn't know, and thinking it is another bit of frivolity, use it and trigger a system wipeout. Not Impressed.

I have a motto - 'I love surprises as long as I know about them beforehand.'

Ever heard about the boy who called Wolf?

The S&D program has had a good rep worldwide, hope this 'egg' doesn't become just a hard to clean up mess.

Besides that - Great program!!:bigthumb:

Hello,

I would like to send you this link:

An easter egg is a hidden game in lot of programms,
also big companies like Microsoft and Palm have it in their softwares.
