Yesterday I tried updating from 1.6.0 to 1.6.2. The update failed partway through, with an error message saying it was unable to delete a certain file (unfortunately I don't remember the name of the file). I tried half a dozen times, always with the same result, and finally had to abort the update.

The first solution that occurred to me was to uninstall 1.6.0 completely, and then download and install 1.6.2 - but perhaps someone has a better idea?

Thanks for enlightenment,

Perhaps it was "SDHelper.dll" (or something similar to that)?
Can you delete the Spybot Programs Folder?

C:\Program Files
If not, I guess you can try taking the long way, but reinstalling v.1.6.0.30 and disable the Resident Shield for IE (Advanced Mode>Tools>Resident [SDHelper]) and then uninstall again, reboot, and upgrade.

Hi saluqi,

:welcome: to Safer Networking Forums. :)

The first solution that occurred to me was to uninstall 1.6.0 completely, and then download and install 1.6.2

That is what I always recommend. ;)

Thanks, Matt.

That's what I did, and it worked like a charm. I didn't have to sacrifice the logs and recovery files from the old installation.
