I went through all the past ControlSet001 and 002 and removed the NameServer 85. whatever entries. As well as in the Current Control Set. This thing still won't let me connect to safre-networking and redirects all of my search stuff out of google.

hi Hrast,

You still have the trojan on your machine. We will get a download to use which will remove the trojan and reset your DNS settings. Do you use a router?

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM) to your desktop:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click **Remove Selected.**
*A restart may be required to finish the clean up process*
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt

please post the MBAM log in reply and also a new hjt log.

Everytime I try to run Malwarebyte, I got an error saying the program stopped responding and never coming up. I reinstalled the system, thinking it would be faster, but something in my backup is infected, as I'm back where I started (I tried the Malwarebytes again, same issue). Here's a new HJT log, maybe that will shed some light on the issue, *shrug*:

Oh, you asked about whether I was using a router. I am. And that got me thinking, that if I could just get around the constant dns weirdness caused by this I could get all my malware stuff updated (AVG and Ad-Aware). Turns out the firmware I use on the router has a "Redirect Outbound DNS (Port 53)" box. So, that's been done and I'm running an AVG SPyware scan now and updating Ad-Aware and will run a full scan when that's done.

Got Malwarebytes to run by renaming the exe. Will post logs when complete.

You shouldnt have to change your DNS settings. The trojan changed them to the ip 85.255....to redirect your web browsing. MBAM removed them.
Some variations of the trojan can also change the DNS setting in the router setup, if you are using the routers default log in. check your router also.
Also i would reboot the computer and the router once.

Router uses a thrid-party firmware, with a user name and a strong password. The DNS is correct there. Currently, my system is set to Obtain everything from DHCP. Everything seems to work as long I as leave Intercept Outbound DNS on. As soon as I turn it off, when I click on any links from Google, I get sent to some random webpage. Live Search returns weird results as well.

You use your IP's DNS lookup?

Intercept Outbound DNSnot sure what the function of this setting is.

go to start>run, type in cmd, click ok
in the shell at the > type in nslookup

I was up against a deadline, so I did some cleanup on my own. I'm going to put what I did here, just in case someone else would find it useful:

Ran Combofix, detected a .sys file and an Autorun.inf on the C: drive. I went and removed all the autorun.infs from my drives that were obviously infected (they each had a ShellExecute command pointing a file in the RECYCLER directory). I also removed all the RECYCLER directories. Also, the MountPoints2 registry key had Shell\Open commands for the various drives pointed to the same file in the RECYCLER directory. I whacked just the Shell keys under each. Took my removable drives to my linux laptop and removed all autorun.infs and RECYCLER directories. Ran MalwareBytes and Ad-Aware, and everything seems to be good. Reran ComboFix just to verify, and it all looks right.

ok. good. Guess your all set then. You can remove combofix like this:
start>run and type in combofix /u

happy safe surfing.
