Hi all,
Recently Spybot reported that my computer is infected with virtumonde/virtumonde.prx and there is some system access registry value , I tried to remove it it several times with Spybot S&D and it said that successfully fixed but when i ran again, it reported the same problems.
Norton AntiVirus program keeps on reporting that I have a hapumoya.dll virus file in system32 directory (right now I have over 2,000 notifications and the number keeps on rising every second). Also, when I run a full system scan using same program, it reports that I have several trojan horses, downloaders and some other stuff. This hapumoya.dll seems to be registered in the appinit_dlls entry plus gagujani.dll (a/k lidevikogu) is listed in my startup list and and I cannot remove both of those entries even in the safe mode. Also, this gagujani file is cannot be identified as virus by any of the virus removal programs (and I already tried several of those, including spybot, Norton and Malwarebytes). The only thing related to it was detected by Malwarebytes and was identified as torjan.vundo.h.

I tried my best to clean everything again but everytime I run computer in normal mode, the same problem appear over and over again. Please advise me on what can I do to get rid of it safely. Thank you all in advance!

J

Good Morning,

Is this a company computer??? Your not being upfront with me.

We cannot clean company computers, it opens a hole legally. This computer can infect other computers on the network. The best thing to do is to have your IT Department pull this computer, reformat it and do a clean install of windows.

Ken

Hi Ken,
No, it is a home computer. I've never even brought it to work, which I don't even have right now. I am full-time looking for work right now and because of this virus I cannot do anything on my computer without having a risk that even more viruses will get to the system and I might even send them to the potential employer, which is not good in any case. I don't know why you think it is a work computer, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me get rid of this virus.
Thank you for understanding!
J

Hello,

Sorry for the confusion, I saw Bullhorn Staffing in your trusted zone and thought the computer may have belonged to them.

Open HijackThis > Do a System Scan Only, close your browser and all open windows including this one, the only program or window you should have open is HijackThis, check the following entries and click on Fix Checked.

Great. The people that write Malwarebytes are a dedicated team, they work round the clock adding new files and reg entries to the database.

Remove these with HJT.

Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1 (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
Link 2 (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
Link 3 (http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe)

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools
See this Link (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html) for programs that need to be disabled and instruction on how to disable them.
Remember to re-enable them when we're done.

Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c30/ken545/RcAuto1.gif

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c30/ken545/whatnext.jpg

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply along with a New Hijackthis log.

*If there is no internet connection when Combofix has completely finished then restart your computer to restore back the connections.

Hi,

Looking so much better :bigthumb:

This is optional, you can remove Bullhorn Staffing if you wish.

Remove this with HJT.
O16 - DPF: {4503BC07-768C-4872-9AE3-A5558E73C2FE} (BullhornConfigTool.activeXComponent) - http://www.bullhornstaffing.com/Bull...figactivex.CAB

This will set your Trusted Zone back to default.

Internet Explorer is needed to run this program properly.
Download: DelDomains (http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/DelDomains.inf) and save it to the desktop.

Close all open windows and your browser
Right Click DelDomains.inf and select > Install
Reboot your computer

These need to be removed

Please download the OTMoveIt3 (http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/OTMoveIt3.exe) by OldTimer.

Save it to your desktop.
Please double-click OTMoveIt3.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

:Files
c:\windows\system32\mizenode.dll
c:\windows\system32\yakiyetu.dll
c:\windows\system32\toyedofi.dll
c:\windows\system32\zimuworo.dll
c:\windows\system32\fonoriga.dll
c:\windows\DUMP7d4e.tmp

Return to OTMoveIt3, right click in the "Paste Instructions for Items to be Moved" window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.

Click the red Moveit! button.
Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
Close OTMoveIt3

Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Post the OTMoveIt log and a new HJT log and let me know how things are running now????

Hi Ken,

Thank you. My computer works much better and no notifications so far.

As I was trying to comlete the last two steps that you sent me I run into problem. I saved DelDomains on my desktop, but when I right-click on it, I don't see any Install option. Is there any other way to complete this step? FYI, I didn't do the OTmoveit3 step yet as well.

Hi,

When you save DelDomains to your desktop ( you need to use Internet Explorer ) just click on it, it happens so fast you may not notice it.

You do need to delete those files with OTMoveIt, there part of the infection.

Hi Ken,

I had a blond moment and I downloaded the file using Firefox and I'm guessing that's why it didnt work the first time. My computer is working much better, although I started getting more pop-ups than before.

Here's my moveit log:

Hi,

It doesn't look like you ran OTMoveIt correctly, those files should have been removed. Lets try it again.

:Files <---Make sure you include this or it won't work.
c:\windows\system32\mizenode.dll
c:\windows\system32\yakiyetu.dll
c:\windows\system32\toyedofi.dll
c:\windows\system32\zimuworo.dll
c:\windows\system32\fonoriga.dll
c:\windows\DUMP7d4e.tmp

What are the pop ups about???

I'm getting more ad pop-ups now when I'm browsing through internet plus I just got two notifications that another A0002518.dll downloader file was trying to get on the computer.

Lets run this tool and if no go then we need to see whats putting those entries back. Did you remove the entries with HJT??

Download VundoFix (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4 ) to your desktop

Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

Hi Ken,

Yes, I did remove them with HJT, but just like the first time, they seem to reappear again.

VundoFix only found files that seems to be legitimate, ie:
C:\Windows\system31\NCTaudioCDGrabber2.dll
C:\Windows\system31\NCTaudioFile2.dll
C:\Windows\system31\NCTaudioPlayer2.dll
C:\Windows\system31\NCTAVIFile.dll
C:\Windows\system31\NCTQuickTimeFile.dll
C:\Windows\system31\NCTVideoCoreM.dll
C:\Windows\system31\NCTWMAFile2.dll

Should I still go ahead and remove them??

Those files appear to be part of this.
http://www.fbmsoftware.com/spyware-net/process/NCTAudioPlayer_dll/2119/

Which seems to be related to file sharing. I read on another forum where the files where removed with no issues, so go ahead and remove them.

Hi,

Lets do this.

Symantec Quarantine folder <-- Delete everything in the Quarantine folder.

Clear out the Java Cache
Open up ATF Cleaner, make sure to select the Java Cache

Delete these.

C:\Program Files\VirtualNetwork
D:\INSTALL\DivXPro511Adware.exe
D:\produkey[1].zip

Boot to Safemode.
To Enter Safemode

Go to Start> Shut off your Computer> Restart
As the computer starts to boot-up, Tap the F8 KEY somewhat rapidly,
this will bring up a menu.
Use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to scroll up to Safemode
Then press the Enter Key on your Keyboard

Tutorial if you need it How to boot into Safemode (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial61.html)

Remove these with HJT.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CPMff46d2a3] Rundll32.exe "c:\windows\system32\fonoriga.dll",a
O20 - AppInit_DLLs: c:\windows\system32\fonoriga.dll
O21 - SSODL: SSODL - {EC43E3FD-5C60-46a6-97D7-E0B85DBDD6C4} - c:\windows\system32\fonoriga.dll (file missing)
O22 - SharedTaskScheduler: STS - {EC43E3FD-5C60-46a6-97D7-E0B85DBDD6C4} - c:\windows\system32\fonoriga.dll (file missing)

Reboot to normal windows, drag Combofix to the trash and grab a fresh copy, its updated on a regular basis, run the scan and post the report along with a new HJT log please.

ATF Cleaner <-- Yours to keep, run it now and then to clean out the clutter.

Malwarebytes <-- Yours to keep also, check for updates and run a scan now and then.

Combofix <---Is not a general cleaning tool, just run it with supervision or you can bork your system

Click START then RUN
Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.

Keep in mind if you install some of these programs. Only ONE Anti Virus and only ONE Firewall is recommended, more is overkill and can cause you problems. You can install all the Spyware programs I have listed without any problems. If you install Spyware Blaster and Spyware Guard, they will conflict with the TeaTimer in Spybot , you can still install Spybot Search and Destroy but do not enable the TeaTimer .

Here are some free programs to install, all free and highly regarded by the fine people in the Malware Removal Community

Spybot Search and Destroy 1.6 (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/)
Check for Updates/ Immunize and run a Full System Scan on a regular basis. If you install Spyware Blaster ( Recommended ) then do not enable the TeaTimer in Spybot Search and Destroy.

Spyware Blaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html) It will prevent most spyware from ever being installed. No scan to run, just update about once a week and enable all protection.

Spyware Guard (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard.html) It offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts, again, no scan to run, just install it and let it do its thing.

IE-Spyad (http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,23332-order,1-page,1-c,antispywaretools/description.html)
IE-Spyad places over 6000 web sites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.

Firefox 3 (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/) It has more features and is a lot more secure than IE. It is a very easy and painless download and install, it will no way interfere with IE, you can use them both.

The line in Red , How did I get infected in the first place is just the header, the links are underneath it and they worked for me.

Ken:)
