"Please select some update files from the list first."

When I select UPDATE from the functions I get the message above but I never get a list to choose from. I did not have this problem with the previous version.

I uninstalled SPYBOT and installed the most recent version. I got the list the first time but haven't seen it since. I run SPYBOT as administrator.

Any solution is welcomed,
Thanks in advance,
Shy

You're running Vista,right?
Try rightclicking Spybot, selecting Properties,go to the Compatability Tab,and put Spybot into compatability for Windows XP service pack 2,click Apply and then OK,see if that helps.

That took care of it. Thank you for the fix, and the quick reply.

Oops,I guess there's a beta update to fix this now.I'm a bit behind the times. :D:

64-bit Vista..... Is there a way to run the SDUpdate.exe in XP mode from within the Task Scheduler? I still get "Please select some update files from the list first." error from Task Scheduler. I exported and modified the xml to priority 4 to get the task to start, but the "select some files" errors causes the task to fail.

Thanks in advance!

I'm having the same problem in WINXP-Home SP3 - I hae 5 machines configured similarly, and 3 of them have the problem. The patch updater doesn't seem to help. Help?

I was not able to resolve the problem that I reported, and I had a very inexpensive 'professional" license from another product, which I installed and scheduled successfully.

I'm sorry that I did not close this thread at that time. I'm still learning.

This is a very old thread into which I am jumping. But the problem still exists. I am running Spybot v1.6.2 on Windows 7/64 with administrative rights - in compatibility mode for Windows 7, in an attempt to eliminate this annoyance. Is there some alteration users are supposed to make to the updater's properties, in order to prevent it from generating the "Please select some update files..." popup dialog each time it makes its scheduled run?

Thanks!
