Generic8.YON Trojan Horse Downloader

I was recently infected prior to this with some miscellanious malware, and with the help of this forum, and Shaba, I got the malare removed. Or so I thought. I started up my computer today after not using it for a week or so, and my desktop had a black screen, and a popup from the tool bar next to the clock that stated that my windows XP did not pass genuine Windows Validation. This computer was given to my wife and I from a friend that she works with over a year ago, and we have been using it with no indications that the software was not legit. I have always done the Windows updates online, and never had a problem. Anyway, I ran Spybot and AVG, and AVG notified me of an infection labled trojan horse downloader.generic8.YON. AVG says it deleted the file, but I want to make sure that it is gone, and find out if I really have counterfeit software or not. I don't know if it helps any more, but the file was located in C:\Documents and Settings\Jacob\Application Data\Google\mccklrp32.dll.

Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

I can't see any reason to think this is not a valid Operating System, Shaba would not have proceeded otherwise. I suggest you take that up with Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/

I would navigate to that file and make sure it is gone.

I run AVG 8 (free) mself and see AVG7 running in this HJT log, to my knowledge it is out of date. If you are running freeware, I suggest updating to AVG 8 and then scanning the complete system. If you pay for the version you are running, I suggest you ask tech support about an update.

Let me know what you find and then we can decide if we need to look more.
