Hello there!

It was a few weeks ago now that my old PC became infected by the dreaded win32/virut virus. I now have a new PC, because i found no way of getting rid of the virus.

Naturally, I am protective of my new PC and wary of putting anything I used to use with my old PC on it. For example, my USB pen (that just happens to have my Uni work on it) that I used to use with it all the time, might have the virus on it and I'm not willing to risk plugging it into my new PC for obvious reasons. I have scanned the USB pen with 3 different Anti-virus programs, one with the infected PC and twice with clean PCs and all the results have said it is clean. The clean PCs were using McAfee and my infected PC scanned the USB with AVG.

Would you say the USB pen is safe to plug into my new PC? Also, I used to transfer songs from my PC to my mp3 player. What is the likelihood of my mp3 player having the virus on it also? I ask these questions because I didn't want to just unleash it all over again.

Thank you for any help in advance

Rhbk

Hi

Use following steps:

1. Download Flash_Disinfector (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/Flash_Disinfector.exe) and save it to your Desktop.
2. After downloading, double-click on Flash_Disinfector to run it.
3. Just follow the prompts and continue until it begin scanning.
4. If asked to insert your flash drive or any removable device including USB Pen Drive and Memory Stick, please do so.
5. It will scan removable drives, wait for the scan to finish. Done.

After that run Kaspersky Online Scanner (http://www.kaspersky.com/kos/eng/partner/us/languages/english/check.html?n=1225554235248) to check your USB drive.

Thanks for your reply, but the link directed me to a page that wasn't found, but when I google'd it and clicked a link from another site, ad-ware blocked the process, claiming it was a worm?

Flash_disinfector is not a worm. If my earlier link doesn't work (works fine for me at the moment) then please try this (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/Flash_Disinfector.exe) one.

Thank you for replying, Blaze.

My USB is virus-free :)
