Hello,

I have been having some problems with my PC and I was happily living with them. However, recently my external HDD stopped working properly and I decided I had to take some action.

I am running on RAID 0 with 2 HDD, and have both XP and Vista installed on different drives. I am having different issues with XP and Vista, and in this thread i will only state my problems with XP.

(I think) I detected Conficker.AE in my system 2 weeks ago, and hopefully cleaned it with the tool provided by Nod32. Note: I have just installed the Microsoft Windows update against Conficker worm.

After that, I noticed a pdf file in my documents with an odd name. Scanned it with Nod32 and spybot and it was clean. When I double clicked, an error occured and it didn't open. I couldnt delete the file at that time as it said it was in use and decided to keep it for possible future analysis.

I have been getting lots of errors related with RAM (.. tried to access ... but the memory could not be READ etc) and blue screens. I decided to run the memory diagnostics tool, but everytime, after I run it, when I try to log into my Windows account, my PC restarts without saying a thing.

Moreover, I can not start Windows in safe mode, no matter what mode I choose (with networking, etc). It just restarts.

Also, the problem with my external HDD is, 1-2 minutes after plugging it, I can not access any file in it. After trying replugging and switching on and off many times, it starts appearing in My Computer as "Local Disc" instead of "My Book", and after some more tries it does not appear anymore. I can not backup my files, I can not use scandisk on it, I can not defrag it. So I decided to schedule a chkdisk/f from cmd screen (heard of it from a website). But whenever I type cmd in the Run, explorer restarts itself without opening cmd (everything but my wallpaper disappears for a few seconds then comes back).

I do not know if some of these are hardware related issues, but I am certain that something is going on here.

Any help is appreciated.

Note: I would LOVE to hear a solution besides formatting, since I have around 700GB data.

Here is my HiJackThis log:
