My computer at work and my computer at home have SpyBot and McAfee.
The computer at home keeps getting a message that I must remove SpyBot in order to install McAfee updates. The computer at work seems to be fine with both SpyBot and McAfee.
I'm afraid to remove SpyBot from my home computer. Anyone know if there should be a problem with McAfee and SpyBot?

Hello,
McAfee tells you to remove Spot due to incompatibilities.
But we have not found any.
If some parts would conflict, just those parts could be disabled.
That's the way to to disable the resident feature of Spybot - Search & Destroy: run Spybot-S&D, switch to the "Advanced mode" via the menu bar item "Mode" --> hit "YES" --> select "Tools" in the navigation bar on the left --> "Resident" and there you can untick the checkboxes in front of the two tools.
We are not happy with the new marketing strategy that softwares like
McAfee use to kick competitors out of the business.
Please do also have a look at this link link (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/articles/foursecuritycolumns.html) on our homepage.
We recommend a fresh install of Spybot - Search & Destroy.
You will find links to several download locations on our website:

By the way - do you have purchased a license for your Spybot on your work pc?
Best regards

Thank you for your reply. I use my own computer at work. I did not know about licensing. Am I obliged to use a licensed copy on my computer at work?

Hello,
Spybot Search and Destroy is only free for the private use.
The license agreement is available here (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/paragraphs/spybotsd_license1.html).
Corporate users need to purchase a license.
Some more information is available on www.safer-networking.ie
Hope that answeres your questions. :-)
Best regards
