View Full Version : windowsclick redirects can't run spybot

Hi,
My computer keeps redirecting me to random sites in firefox and IE. I ran AdAware which detected one problem, but that has not fixed things and AdAware could not update itself. HijackThis wouldn't install properly at first, but then got it to do so by renaming it as .bat and unblocking it under properties, it now runs OK. Had similar difficulties installing Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, got it to install the same way, but that won't start.

All help much appreciated.

Owen

Hello and welcome to Safer Networking

My name is peku006 and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.

Please observe these rules while we work:

I will be working on your Malware issues this may or may not solve other issues you have with your machine.
The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
I f you don't know or understand something please don't hesitate to ask.
Please DO NOT run any other tools or scans whilst I am helping you.
It is important that you reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.
Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.

1 - Download an Run GooredFix

Please download GooredFix (http://jpshortstuff.247fixes.com/GooredFix.exe) and save it to your Desktop.

Double-click Goored.exe to run it.
Select 1. Find Goored (no fix) by typing 1 and pressing Enter.
A log will open, please post the contents of that log in your next reply
(it can also be found on your desktop, called Goored.txt).

Note: Do not run Option #2 yet.

2 - download and run RSIT

Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here (http://images.malwareremoval.com/random/RSIT.exe) and save it to your desktop.
Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt<- (will be maximized) and info.txt<- (will be minimized)

3 - Status Check
Please reply with

1. the GooredLog.txt
2.the logs from RSIT (log.txt ,info.txt)

Thanks peku006

Thanks for your reply. I actually got MBAM to work by installing it on D: partition and renaming it. It found a trojan which I deleted and things seemt o be back to normal, but I'd like to get the all clear so am posting the logs you suggested.

Many thanks for your help.

Hi ogreenhall

IMPORTANT I notice there are signs of one or more P2P (Peer to Peer) File Sharing Programs on your computer.

LimeWire

I'd like you to read the this thread (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=282).

Please go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the programs listed above (in red).

Make an uninstall list using HijackThis

To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:

1. Start HijackThis
2. Click on the Config button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button
4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.

You will now be presented with a screen similar to the one below:

http://img.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/hijackthis/uninstall-man.jpg

5. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here on your next reply

Thanks peku006
