I noticed that sometimes when I click on links, say in a google search, sometimes pages driven by fastclick show up.

So I tried downloading Spybot, but could not reach safer-networking.org. Also could not ping it.

So I downloaded on another machine, but when I tried to install Spybot S&D it immediately said "server name or address could not be resolved."

I checked the hosts file, but safer-networking.org isn't listed there. The only way I can reach the web site on the infected machine is with the IP address, as shown when I ping safer-networking.org on this working machine.

Is there another way that something is blocking access to the site, thus blocking the software from reaching the site for install?

Can I change it somehow so it looks for the IP address instead of www.safer-networking.org?

McAffee's site won't come up, AVG site loads but it won't install, adaware won't install (says it can't reach the server to download updates.)

Somehow this virus is blocking access to certain web addresses, but not through the hosts file.

I just tried to install malwarebytes anti malware...when I try to run it, the message is:

"Malwarebytes anti-malware has stopped working.

"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

It seems whatever this is has any type of virus or malware software blocked, and has anti virus web addresses blocked.
