My apologies, my problem is as follows:

1. I downloaded a game patch of 500meg onto a folder on my hard drive
2. After the download finished (successfully), the 500meg file was nowhere to be found on the drive
3. The next day my pc crashed, and I had to boot from cd/dvd
4. since then I have the following problems
- pc goes into hibernation while I am working on it
- internet does not save my internet history anymore, it disappears after logon
- even during game play the system goes into hibernation (power save mode or something), then I must boot again
- symptoms of a damaged hard drive maybe? but also suspicious as to the browser history disappearing, maybe virus

Maybe best to just re-install windows??

Also, everytime I run a spybot scan I pick up 22 errors, and after fixing all 22 successfully, they all re-appear again.

1) There is no need to send me the information in private message that you post in your thread in the forum.

2) There is no need to quote the posted information.

3) Did you read the information I posted about how to deal with:
Why can I not remove the Sti_Trace.log (or SchedLgU.txt) file?
and the tutorial of how to use Spybot to remove what is found?
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/tutorial/index.html

4) Spybot S&D: check for updates, run a scan, fix any problems then:
on the toolbar menu select mode and switch to advanced, on the left select tools, view report, make sure all the options are selected near the bottom except:
Uncheck[ ] do not report disabled or known legitimate Items,
uncheck[ ] Include a list of services in report.
Uncheck[ ] Include uninstall list in report.
Now select near top-- view report, Press export, and save the log on your Desktop, post the saved log in your next reply.

5) Post also an uninstall list: Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.

Congratulations!: No immediate threats were found. (Status)

You have no problems there, Open Spybot S&D, then click the Recovery button and Purge anything in there.

If you have additional questions about Spybot that are not covered in the links I posted, and after you have clicked on HELP at the top and reviewed HELP topics and the Tutorial, you may ask those here:

http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=4

AVG Scan:

* Right click the icon for AVG in System Tray and choose Open AVG User Interface.

* Click on Update now, allow AVG to download and install any new updates.

* Click on Computer Scanner then choose "Scan whole computer", this takes a round one hour on the computer I am using now.

* Near the bottom above the words "The scan is complete" choose "Export overview to file"

* Choose Desktop and give it a name you will recognize like AVG Scan Results, then choose SAVE.

* Close results and close the Interface.

* Copy and paste the contents of that file unless it is clean.

Please tell me about any malware isues.

Thanks
