That said, All advice given by anyone volunteering here, is taken at your own risk.
While best efforts are made to assist in removing infections safely, unexpected stuff can happen.

Whoa, you have THREE ANTI VIRUS PROGRAMS RUNNING, with AV, more is not better, there going to use a huge amount of system resources that will slow your computer down, and also be fighting each other when there running. You have Norton, Awil and AVG free, your call but you need to uninstall two of them via the Add Remove Programs in the Control Panel


I am not looking at any Vundo on your log, not to say its not showing up.


Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here (http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Anti-Malware_d5756.html) or Here (http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe)

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.<-- Don't forget this
When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Copy and Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a New Hijackthis log.



1. Remove two AV programs

I had 2 questions about your response. First, I used to have Norton prior to getting AVG free..and I thought I uninstalled it (and it isn't showing up in my add/remove programs)..the only things that are there that are related are:
"LiveUpdate 3.2 (Symantec Corporation)"
"LiveUpdate Notice (Symantec Corporation)"
"Symantec Technical Support Web Controls"

Are those what I'm needing to remove? I don't see any other Symantec or Norton related items..

Also, what is Awil? Is that Avast Anti-virus? A friend downloaded that one for me like two days ago, and it found some infected files that we deleted..but it's not normally one that I use.
I'd like to just keep AVG and Spybot..

Sorry for the confusion, and thanks for your help. I'll remove the items after I get your response whether or not those are what I need to delete.

Hi,

If you like AVG Free, that would be my choice than uninstall Avast.

You can try uninstalling these via the Add Remove Programs, if they won't let you than you can run this tool from Symantec that will uninstall there products due to a bad install or uninstall

Good Morning,

Malwarebytes removed a few things, no Vundo was present, if it was Malwarebytes would have found and removed it.

C:\Program Files\AskBarDis <--This is legit but its running at Startup and also as a windows service, if you don't use it then uninstall it via the Add Remove Programs.

The rest of your log looks fine, how are things running now??

Well, I didn't have any outward signs of any problems before..I'm not sure whether that's normal or not with Virtumonde..but things seem fine.

I did run Spybot again this morning though, and it is still saying its there at:

(SBI $92386332 Library)
C:\\Windows\System32\zipfldr.dll

Which, last time I ran Spybot, it said the same thing, and I pulled up the folder at that location and deleted it..but now it's saying that that same folder is contaminated..

Legit program but its running as a windows service which means its using precious system resources, so your call to uninstall it or not. If you use it , keep it, if not than uninstall it.

Oh, I was running Version 1.52, but I upgraded it, ran the updates, ran the immunize tool and ran another scan, and it said that it found no threats on my computer. Woo!

Do you know why it said it was there on the old version, and it said everything was good on the new version?

Also, am I able to remove, HijackThis and MalwareBytes from my system, or should I leave them?

Hi,

That was just a bug in the older version of Spybot.

Malwarebytes is one of the better programs to come along in awhile and you have the free version, I would keep it and run a scan a few times a month.

Hijackthis leaves a very small footprint so keep if you like, hopefully you wont need it in the furture. It may come in handy one day so its your call. You can just drag it to the trash.


You can also download this program that was written by one of our own malware fighters, its becoming very popular for removing all the temp files and not needed garbage from your system.

Please download ATF Cleaner (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1) by Atribune to your desktop.

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.Your system may start up slower after running ATF Cleaner, this is expected but will be back to normal after the first or second boot up
Please note: If you use online banking or are registered online with any other organizations, ensure you have memorized password and other personal information as removing cookies will temporarily disable the auto-login facility.




Lets update your Java to make your system more secure

Go to your Control Panel and click on the Java Icon ( looks like a little coffee cup ) click on About and you should have Version 6 Update 13, if not proceed with the instructions.

Keep in mind if you install some of these programs. Only ONE Anti Virus and only ONE Firewall is recommended, more is overkill and can cause you problems. You can install all the Spyware programs I have listed without any problems. If you install Spyware Blaster and Spyware Guard, they will conflict with the TeaTimer in Spybot , you can still install Spybot Search and Destroy but do not enable the TeaTimer .

IE-Spyad places over 6000 web sites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.

Firefox 3 (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/) It has more features and is a lot more secure than IE. It is a very easy and painless download and install, it will no way interfere with IE, you can use them both.

Ok, I have one more question--
I had downloaded this one program (which I thought I was supposed to from one of the links on the site..or maybe not..), its called RegCure--Anyway, it ran a scan last night of my computer and it said it found 1192 problems within various categories like Com/ActiveX Entries, Windows Startup Entries, File Associations etc..

I thought this program was on one of the first pages that you're supposed to read before you post, and that it had said something about running the scan, but not deleting anything because they could be normal Windows operations..?

This was not on this site. What you may have saw was a link to ERUNT , this is a tool that backs up your Registry in case of a problem it can be restored, this does not clean it. RegCure is a legit program but let me tell you about registry cleaners as there not recommended. Remove the suggested entries and you will see no difference in system performance, remove the the wrong entries ( and they sometimes do ) and you can then use your computer for a doorstop.

Been around computing many many years and never had no use for Registry cleaners. You can use ATF Cleaner that will get rid of the temp files and such that tend to clog you down.

Please download ATF Cleaner (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1) by Atribune to your desktop.

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.Your system may start up slower after running ATF Cleaner, this is expected but will be back to normal after the first or second boot up
Please note: If you use online banking or are registered online with any other organizations, ensure you have memorized password and other personal information as removing cookies will temporarily disable the auto-login facility.



Backup Your Registry with ERUNT:
Download erunt.zip to your Desktop from here:
http://aumha.org/downloads/erunt.zip
Right-click erunt.zip, select Extract All... and follow the prompts to extract ERUNT to a new folder on your Desktop
Inside the new folder, double-click ERUNT.exe to start the program
OK all the prompts to back up your registry to the default location.Note: to restore your registry, go to the backup folder and start ERDNT.exe
