spybot doesnt start up please help

Hi there!

Im new to this forum so im not sure if im posting in the right place.

I'm still using win98 and Iv had problems with my computer's registry and dll files from a virus but have now cleared them (i hope), however i cant get spybot running and i feel i have spyware on my computer.

Im using ad-aware but feel spybot is much better because of the imunisation feature and my computer used to work wonderfully when spybot did work.

so heres the deal.. when I click the desktop icon to run spybot i get two error messages one says:

Error starting prgram - the NETRAP.DLL file is linked to missing export NTDLL.DLL:RtllnitAnsiString

C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\SpybotSD.exe - A device attached to the system is not functioning

Ive downloaded new netrap.dll and ntdll.dll files and put them in the system folder but still does not work.

what could be the problem?? how can i fix it?

Step # 1: Try to start Spybot
Sometimes, Malware blocks Spybot. Please try to open Spybot like md usa spybot fan wrote here (http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=294582&postcount=3).
Moreover, if this doesn't help you, please reboot and start in safe mode (http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml) and try to open Spybot there.



Step # 2: Reply
Please tell me whether you were able to start Spybot or not. Moreover, feel free to add any information that seems important in your eyes.
Do you have Sings of Malware (http://www.virusvault.us/signs1.html) ?

If you want an analyst to have a look on your computer, please let me know. I can give you some links. ;)

I did everything that the link asked and even tried it in safe mode however i still get the same result "netrap blah blah blah" ive checked the signs of spyware i dont actually have any of them except the last one about my spyware remover not working however i have a eerie feeling i have spyware lurking in the depths of my computer and would really like spybot working again.

teatimer seems to run fine however its wen i open up the main software.

You can try to reinstall Spybot, perhaps this could help you.

Step # 2: Malware Removal Forum

hey Matt

yeh i unistallled and reinstalled but the same error messages come up could it be my registry is so messed up??

I ran my anti virus and it foudn two trojans which are now deleted few so im in the clear on viruses but i would jus like spybot to work

which trojans did your Antivirus tool find? Can you remember ?
Which AntiVirus program do you use?

Moreover, I would never trust in ONLY ONE security program and say "I'm clean". ;)
