Hello i have recently had troubles with my compter as it wont let me load in last know good config or start normally it only works in safe mode and with networking. when i try to get on with the normal or last know good config it seems alright until it reaches the point after the xp load up screen with the 3 blue dots going along the screen after this it becomes blank then ges to a wierd horizontal blue or white fuzzy screen for 10 secs then aftr goes to a message saying no signal so i was wondering if i had any malware as i have done some scans and have found trojans and other stuff i have had them removed but i dont think i have got to the root of them because the problem still continues here is a hjt log taken.

Hi Ryan

You should avoid running system under safe mode with networking since there's no protection running while still connected to the network.

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/dds) or here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr) or here (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/dds).
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
DDS.txt
Attach.txt

Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.

Hi again,

We have the following sticky here:
Do NOT run 'fixes' before helpers have analyzed HJT log (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=16806)

Since ComboFix had been run I need to see its log. So, post back contents of c:\ComboFix.txt file, please. Don't re-run ComboFix.

Hi

IMPORTANT I notice there are signs of one or more P2P (Peer to Peer) File Sharing Programs on your computer.

LimeWire

I'd like you to read this thread (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=282).

Please go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the programs listed above (in red).

After that:

Uninstall these vulnerable Javas leaving only Java 6 Update 13 installed:
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 5
Java(TM) 6 Update 3
Java(TM) 6 Update 6
Java(TM) 6 Update 7

Also, it seems you've installed MSN Plus with sponsors. Uninstall Messenger Plus! Live & Sponsor (CiD). You may reinstall later if needed without sponsors.

Make sure you have ComboFix.exe file on your desktop from one of the links below but don't run it:
Link 1 (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
Link 2 (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
Link 3 (http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe)

Uninstall old Adobe Reader versions and get the latest one here (http://www.filehippo.com/download_adobe_reader/) or get Foxit Reader here (http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/reader_2/down_reader.htm). Make sure you don't install toolbar if choose Foxit Reader! You may also check free readers introduced here (http://pdfreaders.org/).

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

Save this as
CFScript

A word of warning: Neither I nor sUBs are responsible for any damage you may have caused your machine. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

Close all browser windows and refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe
Then post the resultant log & a fresh dds.txt contents.

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

Any chance you could take a picture of that logon process that fails in normal mode? It might be an issue with your graphics card that's causing the problem. Safe mode doesn't demand as much from the card as normal mode does since it uses lower resolution and colors.

Click Start, click Run, type msiexec /regserver in the Open text box, and then click OK. Try uninstall old versions now.

You may archive the pictures into zip file if those are not too large and then attach it like you attached those log files. If those won't fit in size limit then you may upload the pics here (http://www.sendspace.com/) for example. Then post a download link back here.

Hi

Yes, you're right. Uninstalling those old versions should be done in normal mode.

Especially the third screenshot gives an impression that either graphics card or monitor has some issues. Could you borrow some other graphics card to try system with it? Of course that requires your system is desktop model.

Ry Confused

Hello :)

No i dont have any spare graphics cards anywhere and the monitor that is here is an old one that doesnt have the right connections to it so if it is the graphics card or monitor why am i getting loads of malware pop up in malwarebyts is it just a councidance that they are being found at this time?

Thanks.

Just incase this could be of any use i thought of posting my weeks scans detected items on malwarebytes all of these have been deleting but still the problem remains as you well know so maybe it is the graphics card. im just hopeing it isnt :) so here we go :S

Hi

Those MBAM scans are dated before we had done anything. Have you run scanner now?

Strange behaviour like in your case could well be graphics card related since it happens only in normal mode. As I told you earlier, safe mode doesn't demand so much from the card as normal mode does. So, it would be good if you could borrow some friend's card or then try yours in some other system to see if same symptoms happen.

By the way, do those purple dot like items in the first screenshot appear like that in real life or is it just some lightning effect there in the picture?

Hello

ermm if its the vertical lines of blue/purple colour blind you see :) doesnt help then yes they are always there im guessing that is due to the broken graphics if i have one :) i will see if my friend that is comming today has a graphics card and if he minds bringing it down or i could go into the old comp and fidle around but im not to sure how to take it out or put it in.

Thanks.

Ok. I namely have graphics card issues with my old lappie (screen gets messy after system has been on for a few mins). That's why those problems are familiar to me :)
